There’s lots of good coverage around – including live timing and lots of photos, but if you’re interested in just checking in occasionally and getting a good flavour of the event, it’s hard to go past RedRC.  Hit up their events coverage page here, or their youtube channel here.

02 July 2010 Update:
TC is now underway….and being the ‘main’ class, there is some additional coverage.  RC Racing.tv are broadcasting daily video updates from the Worlds.  Good interviews and insights into what’s going on. Check them at the EFRA website or at the Official HPI Youtube Channel
03 July 2010 Update:
Marc Rheinard has successfully defended his TC World Championship, in the process becoming WC for the 3rd time.  Rheinard easily won the first two legs of the A final after his nearest rivals made costly errors. Congrats to Marc, rapidly stamping his name as one of the all time R/C greats.

Want to know how serious things are at the worlds?
RedRC are reporting that Japanese star Hideo Kitazawa has been disqualified from the event for charging LiPo batteries without using a LiPo safety sack. That follows earlier news of pit-table LiPo fire. I don’t know if the fire was at Hideo’s pit, but obviously they are pushing their 1s LiPo packs to the limit…and sometimes beyond.
Makes me think about my own charging habits. Perhaps my LiPo bag will be used a little more consistently….
Meanwhile LRP report they’ve been using a speed gun during practice….with the fastest cars topping out at 66 km/h. Pretty big speeds for 3.7v powered cars on a small indoor track. Later in the week when the TC’s get going outside….speeds could be massive. With Hara hitting 116 km/h recently at an ETS series event, big horsepower will be out to play.

Check out the HPI PIt walk Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fcvBz1UfwI&feature=player_embedded#!)
Nick Daman is barely inside the pit tent when all three aussies star. Nicholson walks past the camera, Maker is in the background trying to get speed secrets out of the Yokomo team, and Cullas is engaged likewise in hitting up Masami for all the hot tips. Good to see the boys making their presence felt!
