Stories from the world of RC car racing

Next weekend 28/30th May sees the annual Tamworth cup – traditionally the NSW v/s Qld comp – and will be again this year. Unfortunately this year Queenslanders have opted to stay away so very few numbers will line up against the might of NSW.
If you want to change your mind and turn up you can probably still get a late entry in. It’s a great track and the racing will be good. Watch this space for regular updates on our progress.

This week is preparation week for Tamworth.
I’ve brushed off the car (no full rebuilds for me), thought about a shockie rebuild but they look ok.
Was going for the setup station but it’s in the back pocket of the pit bag and looks pretty comfortable in there so why distuurb it.
Put a different 540 motor in there so I would have something to practice with – don’t want to use my good Brad Hall beater just for practice.
I’m running 540 Pro this week so the Qld Team will be a balanced one with good chances (if they still score the Interclub the way we used to.

The long drive down was without incident – except for one memorable hill climb where Bob forgot that he isn’t Ari Vartinen – anyway the Honda is a very forgiving car and we survived it.
The open practice went all day and most of the Queenslanders were on the pace by the afternoon. Very pleasant day sometimes shirts sometimes jumpers but no rain and not too cold.
Queensland is looking the goods to gat the shield and make the annual score 3 all.
