Stories from the world of RC car racing

A great day for the race – perfect weather and a great new surface on the track – same old drivers stand but the news is all good with the council coming to the party for a new one – soon.
There were more gas than EP practicing today but not a large number of either really.
Everything looks good for a great weekends racing – stay tuned.

A great day of racing – some great races in all classes. I can’t talk about teh gas cause I didn’t catch any of those but the 540 and the Super stock were great specially the finals.
    540
Right from heat 1 it was clear that young Chase was the man to beat and so it was – starting with TQ and going on to win 2 of the three finals in his Schumacher Mi4Lp. Heavy was next in line and when he won teh second final to have a 1st and a second to Chases 1st and 3rd it was well and truly game on for the last final.
Heavy made a small mistake in teh last final and in this class that’s all it takes – Chase went on to take teh win and teh trophy from Heavy and Rpbert Tyler in third for a Schumacher clean sweep.
    Super Stock
Corey Broadstock was teh man and he went through first in teh first two finals – chaos rained supreme in on of those when Clintons car failed to get off teh line and multiple cars piled into him from teh back.
Chris Sturdy stood up to race long pressure from Tim to win teh third final which added to his 2nd gave him 2nd overall behind Corey and Tim was third.
    Gas
I think this is the order of finishing after the long final. 1st Peter Giblin, 2nd John LaSpina, 3rd Wade Lobley – apologies if I got that wrong.
The F1 racing Saturday night was an absolute hoot. We got teh cars pretty well hooked up and had a couple of long untimed informal races – absolutely the best fun I’ve had in F1 for a very long time. Thanks to Graham for the drinks and Rex for the Pizza’s
We do it all again tomorrow with Stock, Mod and pro Tourer

A couple of hours on and I’m still laughing as I remember the F1 racing we had tonight – how often we forget fun in the competitive nature of what we do – there’s no doubt what we do is real car racing and there’s no doubt that it is serious stuff – but what a pleasure to be able to cease from teh serious side and have such an enjoyable interlude – thanks again to all the guys that made that happen.

Ran the hobbywing today at sunnycoast, and was very happy…..pitty about the driver 😕  Thanks heavy for the software upgrade done early in the morning. Will have to have a tinker with the settings to get it set up for our brisbane tracks. Maybe not much really to change, except for some fine tuning, but very happy with speedy today. 😆 😆

    Day2.
Wow what a huge weekend – I made it home safely but totally stuffed.
    Stock
This class turned on some huge competition for the 10 places available in the A final, and right from the start it was the two kids that were showing us oldies and other young guns the way around. Shris Sturdy led teh charge from Jordon Kidas and the rest of us were around 7 seconds adrift. In teh end TQ went to Chris, clearly faster than anyone else.
Chris went on to win teh first 2 finals to claim the cup and Jordan had 2 seconds and then won the third. In third place was the Shev making a welcome return to big meets.
    Mod
The class of the field was multiple Australian champ Simon Nicholson and he went on to TQ and win with Anthony and Leonard eventually in 2nd and 3rd – I think.
    Pro Tourer.
Again I have no results and didn’t watch any of these races but the winner today was John Hammon from Michael Sherman and ?? someone help me – maybe Chris ??
    Anyway a good days racing.
The Final results will be up soon but after 2 rounds I think Logan have a slight lead on Sunny Coast and Brendale in the Interclub comp.

    My weekend.
Decided to run 540 on Saturday as I don’t have a 10.5 motor and didn’t feel like buying one – have done 2 540 meets in preparation and thought I might have had a handle on the class. Had a secondhand Tekin TX to use in the event but it didn’t work so I borrowed a LRP off Gary (thanks Gary). All through qualifying and the finals I was clearly second to young Chase who drove excellently and ended up with the cup, I was second and Robert Tyler was third to roud out a Schumacher lock out.
Sunday I was down to run Stock and there looked like a lot of likely names on the list, three heats of them in fact. I had decided to run a Speed Passion ESC rather than the more fashionable Tekin so I downloaded the latest 422 software, I thought the speed ie was pretty good – at least as fast as my Tekin and a bit smoother and nicer to drive. In the end a few of us used SP or Hobby Wing ESC and they did look the goods. There is more to winning than the speedie of course and Chris Sturdy (Schumacher) stamped his name on the cup right from the off. Jordan Kidas (x-ray) was clearly second fastest with old hand like Bob and myself floundering in the third and fourth spots. Both Bob and I had an unhappy finals series and it was left to Shev to pick up the 3rd place crumbs after the two young guys. My car ended up with a broken steering servo in the final race and so I ended the day in 5th.
I was happy with the handling and speed of the Mi4LP on both days and feel confident that if I was 50 years younger I could probably be there mixing it with the young champs.
Anyway a good weekend, good racing, good company and we get to do it all again at Tamworth in 3 weeks – anyone coming ?

    The Schumacher Team weekend
Our Schumacher weekend was spearheaded by another giant killing weekend by Chris Sturdy in his Mi4 LP. Second in his step up to 10.5 on the Saturday and TQ and 1st in Stock on the Sunday.
Chase Gregory was also another standout with his great TQ and win in 540 on the Saturday to stand atop the podium flanked by two other Schuie drivers.
Anthony Atack 2nd in the Mod
The other statistics are formidable and worth a random look.
    540 – 1st, 2nd and 3rd and a number in the A final.
Super Stock – 2nd and some other A final places – I’ll get back to this later.
    Stock – 1st and 3rd and 6 out of 10 in the A final
Mod – 2nd and a win in the B final.
Overall a great weekend for Schumacher drivers.
