The upcoming Qld Titles event has attracted less interest than I can ever remember for a titles event. I suppose the threat of rain last night had something to do with it but there were precious few people at Bayside last night practicing for the event and with a day to go till entries close and only 21 (possibly some more than that entered manually) entries in the box it’s not exactly looking like a block buster.
And with only 1 entry in 540 Masters so far you’d have to say the drivers have voted “NO” to two 540 titles in a year. Super Stock has a reasonable entry (12) but where are all the Gas Cars – maybe focused on the real Qld Titles for gas cars at Brendale later in the year – why do we need 2 title events for gas cars – can’t we run them all on the same weekend.
Personally think it’s time ORRCA had a hard look at the way they are doing things and maybe go back to the time proven method of only having one weekend a year for State Titles. The end of September weekend could easily host Titles for all classes with the numbers we have these days and save the disruption to club racing that these events bring.

With a closing date of tomorrow, would be a shame to see the numbers at half of a club meet. Hopefully there will be a lot of last minute entries today and tonight. Maybe the fact that there is so much racing at our finger tips, that events like these don’t seem as special anymore. Some might say ‘a well it’s just another race’ 😕 😕 ❓ ❓

Heavy, there’s a need for the Gas Car title as its specifically a QLD spec and the PullStart at the AARCMCC is a different spec, AARCMCC itles are pro touring. Guy is on a rugby tour, so wont be competing in GT. Luke is nom’d superstock.

I think ORRCA Qld in their new cooperative relationship with AARCMCC should be negotiating with AARCMCC & Brendale to run the Qld GT rules in the “pullstart” class at the AARCMCC event (even if AARCMCC just consider it a “support” event that’s only sanctioned by ORRCA Q).
Best of both worlds, get rid of an unnecessary (and you have to say unpopular) event, and give the popular (in Qld) gas tourer class a queensland championship event they can be proud of.
Superstock is not a class in Qld that deserves a Qld championship event. very few clubs run it regularly, and it only works at interclub events because of the format. One option might be to incorporate a “Top Superstock” award within the mod class, so that anyone wanting to run ss runs in with the mod cars (not that much speed difference these days anyway) and have a race-within-a-race.

Scott, I dont think it would work… the parity in GT class is widening just as it is in the EP spec classes with the new speedies. All it does is create angst and dilutes the participation in the premiere classes. Brendale’s Gas Touring is a club event and from what Ive experienced, there’s more parity in the open IC classes and competitive engines are more affordable than ever.
I’d be more in agreement to look into your SS suggestion and award a sub-class award for anyone wanting to have a go in open with a 1hp/pullstart car.

From a concept point of view, I’d always want to see a limited HP Gas series, I don’t see it as a dilution of Pro either, guys who want and can put 1.5HP through a chassis and live with the wear always will, but somewhere along the lines it’s nice to have something where engines cost less, and in theory other running costs stay low as well.
I’d also like to see it replace pullstart like Scott said, when you look at electric running how many classes?, what is the issue with 1/10th Nitro running just two?, support class or not, it has an ability to be easier on the pocket, and just as fun.
I’m just not convinced ‘open’ classes are where it’s all at, it just makes no sense to me ‘not’ to offer any control classes below any open class, although there are limits, electric has too many, and err not many of them seem to have much control anymore either.

I’d like to see Clinton banned from stock because no one can beat him. I mean I cant even get close to him, it’s just not fair 😦 😥

Think I’ll start with the Tekin – it seemed pretty good last weekend in teh short run I had before the rain.
Hopefully I’ll be there bright and early, couldn’t quite get there today – pesky day job.

With the sxcoring system of dropping 2 out of 6 rounds it’s hard to say after just 4 rounds who is winning what.
In Super Stock Clinton is leading from probably Tim and Chris. With 2 rounds to go Corry will probably come into the mix as well, who knows.
Tomorrow we’ll all know.

Sorry i don’t have any results as I had to leave early (Granddaughters birthday party).
In Super Stock Clinton would have won followed by Corey and Chris ( I think ).
Anybody add to that ?

Thanks Vazzo,
He did a great job, his first race meeting in super stock, to qualified 3rd and he had a shot at 2nd in the first and second finals but he made some mistakes which cost him the spot.
