Stories from the world of RC car racing

A couple of weeks late, but the new year is in, and I’ve been thinking about my 2010 racing plans and hopes.  How about you?  What do you have on your list for 2010?
At this stage my main racing project for 2010is to get the new Launceston R/C raceway up and running. It will be the first time I’ve been actively involved in running a club since the Jimboomba days, with my last few years racing being a bit hit and miss. I’m looking forward to getting a new club up and running, and introducing a heap of new guys to this great hobby.
On the racing front, I’ll continue to do a little nitro offroad from time to time, but at the indoor track I’ll be running short course trucks, and hopefully some TC as well. Maybe later in the year we might get a little 4wd buggy racing going – a CAT SX would be fun!
Big races? I’ll be doing the Tasmanian Champs for EP touring in March (so should you – great track, beautiful city, fun race) and then for GP offroad in December hopefully. I’m also likely to make it to Melbourne in May for the Vic EP touring champs at the fantastic TFTR track.  Not sure apart from that, though I’d still like to get to a big GP offroad race on the “north island” sometime.
I’m hoping to keep writing for Racing Lines, taking a look at new cars every now and then, writing the “Another Country” column each month, and maybe a few other bits and pieces from time to time.
And I’m looking forward to continuing to keep actionrc.com.au fresh and interesting, filled with stories, news and a little lightheartedness from time to time.
How about you…how’s your 2010 racing year shaping up?

2010 for me as of 1st Jan was looking like more of the same but things have changed.
F1. I had planned on importing some MLP cars but that looks like it has fallen over. I will now be campaiging an AGR Clubman/Speed Passion Motors and batteries and doing all the Wednesday night meets plus as many F1 Specials as I can get to.
TC. I will be racing the new Mi4LP initially the “RACE” version but later the Pro both in the STOCK class. I will do the Tassie State Titles and maybe one other Interstate meet and maybe Tamworth if it happens. Then I’ll squeeze in the Interclubs and as many club events as possible.
Offroad. There was going to be a SC10 in my pitts but it’s just on hold for a few minutes now that Schumacher have announced a new 2wd buggy – I might have to go that way for a bit. But I will get to SC at some stage – I’ll be giving Scott’s a flogging when I am in Tassie in March.
I’m getting rid of a lot of cars that have been clogging up my workspace that I am never likely to use – the B4 and the T4 have already gone – more fun, fewer toys is the goal for 2010.
For ActionRC it’s definitely full steam ahead with Schumacher and Speed Passion and a few other special lines. Also we plan to keep the web site topical, usefull and informative to SEQ racers and stay over 10,000 hits a month.

I’m hoping I make the state titles this year thats the big one for me. If Tamworth looks to be big I might get down there for a road trip as well 🙂

I’m having a bit of a re-think of my RC.
I’ll be away for most of the first half of the year, so not too sure what meets I’ll be attempting to run. Bayside this weekend for sure. Then a look at the Vic racing scene for a few months.
I really want to get back into 4WD offroad so I’m making some room for one to have a run with. Too many onroad chassis collecting dust. Anyone looking for a Mi 3.5 or 4 give me a holla..

For us, it’s about creating a social novice atmosphere at England Park on Friday nights and reserving the alternate weekends to gather with others to make bigger numbers across SE clubs and put on a better spectacle for spectators and alike when called on.
Trying to avoid redundant expenses at small meets and put in a bigger effort to participate at larger ones. So I hope all the clubs make a calling, so we can help amplify RC and put a few pennies into the other clubs in our region.
