Stories from the world of RC car racing

At the Bayside AGM Doug and Trish resigned from their position on the Bayside committee as President and Canteen Coordinator res.
From my point of view I have seen an enormous amount of progress around Bayside since Doug took over as President three years ago and I want to just say I appreciate the workload he has carried and thank him for it.
Also Trish – unquestionably the best canteen in RC in Brisbane and a lot of hard work by Trish and her cohorts – some of the family could regularly be seen there working – well done Trish and family.
Will be good to see Doug doing a bit of racing without the weight of responsibility.
Thanks also from me to Neil Stonely who has put in a long time in various roles – rock solid – never rattled – drives a Holden but apart from that blight, he’s a great guy and has done a great job.
Best wishes to the new team John Taynton, Rex Creed, Ashley Cobb, Steve Evans, Shane Pearce and sorry my memory has gone – a couple of others. Hopefully the club members will get behind the new committee as they try to make things happen.

Mitchell & I have not been in the RC scene as long as a few others but I have to say that as a club I was totally satisfied every time we went to the track that we were welcome, were helped out as novices and accepted as part of the club in a very short space of time. Never missed a chance for a bacon & egg breaky or a steak sanga for lunch. even the coffee was good. ANY club is only as good as it’s committee’s commitment to the “behind the scene” mundane stuff that nobody see’s which is the backbone to a successful club. Thanks to the committee for making our debut into the RC world a pleasant one which makes the drive from down Beaudesert way worth while. Good luck to the new committee, keep the motion going forward. looking forward to brining another junior into the fun that is RC racing in 2010

It would be remiss of me if I did not start off by saying a very big thanks to Heavy. When ever I needed advice Heavy was only a phone call away.
When I was looking for help prior to the 2008 QLD Electric Titles it was Heavy, asking if he could be of some assistance. Nothing is too much for Heavy weather it be an old timer or a newbie at the tracks, he is first there if they want help. Thanks big fellow it was a pleasure working with you and I am sure just as much fun racing along side you in the future.
Next I would like to thank Tricia, for only she has seen the behind closed doors work involved in being a successful President. The times when I would come home after 12 to 14 hours at the concrete plant. The mood swings when the diabetes was playing up, due to the amount of stress after some clown in his or her wisdom would only give negative criticism and when a little positive help could have been better.
The hours spent over three years shopping for the next race meeting. Going to club meetings, ORRCA meetings, Interclub meetings etc. And no quality time with her unless it was RC stuff. Not being able to be there when some of the rude and ill-mannered customers (young and old) threw abuse and insults at her and her helpers.
Well it is rest time now, she can come to the track and relax as I enjoy myself doing what most people did when I was president, and WHAT A WOMAN thanks Tricia.
My next lot of thanks goes to all the people who helped in one way or another. If I don’t mention your name please don’t be discouraged as over the three years there were so many people who helped doing something.
In no special order Carla Pinder, Kahla Scott Leanne Stanley, Linda Hollis, Melissa La Spina, Mitchell Hollis, Toby Pinder, Alicia and Mike Bond, (Canteen)
John Hansen, Ashley and Deb Cobb, Bob Scott, Neale Stoneley, Tony Berends, Tony Lewis, Wade Lobbley, Mick Sherman, Harry and Micheal Redmond, Jason and Chris Dorn (always there when I needed advice) Chris and Leanne Duffell Aaron Lovelock, Steve Evens Harry (Bliss) John & Mitchell Pyke ( Little Johnny) to name a few. All the above names and more had a hand in the success of BRCCC
A special thanks to a man who says very little but did some outstanding things for the club, off his own bat. Things like, the time we needed to cut some concrete, he got hold of a concrete cutter chap and donated it to our club. He would drive from near Beaudesert some 1 and a quarter hrs one way and mow the grass. The hand out leaflets he had made for our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle. In my eyes he and his wife Linda and children would be what one would call a role model for every Australian family to follow. If you have not guessed, yes its Brendan Hollis. Thanks Mate.
There were so many people who made my job easier and made me look good as the president of BRCCC. To all of you thanks very much and I am looking forward to racing with you all at some time or another
