Stories from the world of RC car racing

Schumacher have announced a freshening up of the Mi4 with a LP version (new narrower chassis black pulleys and it comes with some of the options we have already been using – shorter arms, one sided layshaft extra flex C hubs etc) and also a Race (budget) version.
The only major change is really the chassis. These cars will be available at the end of November. I expect the price in Brisbane to remain the same with the Race considerably cheaper.

For those thinking about a budget race car the Race might be worth a serious look.It will be quite cheap and probably quite a weapon in 540. The differences will be that all the plate parts will be S1 composite instead of graphite – hardly a disadvantage. The down side will be the old school shocks (and shock towers) and probably the quality of diff balls etc.and teh plastic drive shafts. Certainly upgradeable to full Mi4LP spec over time as you grow with it.
As far as the rest of us go the new chassis looks like a hot ticket as soon as they are available and then there’s the black pulleys etc and the one piece layshaft (similar to the TIR one we are allready running) and the short arms we are allready running. For those who have Mi4 on order with me you will be getting the LP now of course – lucky.
For those who have a Mi4 already the good news is that it’s obviously fully upgradeable to LP status. Personally I’ll probably stick with the standard chassis for awhile – I’m still in love with the LIPO brace on the existing chassis – maybe I’ll grab the new layshaft, that looks neat.

Very nice. How much do the entry level kits go for Heavy? I love the fact that they can build a budget spec kit without making it a tub 😆

Have to wait and see what the exchange rate does when the cars are available in a couple of weeks – I’m guessing around $400 for the Race.

the ‘Race’ looks like a fantastic deal for someone looking to move into a race car but on a budget. awesome package for the price.
would just need to be careful with the plastic driveshafts – they’ll definitely be good for 540 and stock, maybe even superstock, but would need to be upgraded to the Mi4LP Pro versions to run mod…..but that’s about all that would need upgrading.
