Stories from the world of RC car racing

A good turn out of EP Tourers tonight at Logan – 540, Stock and Mod. Was going to be cold but the action will be HOT.
Tomorrow quite a few Brissy drivers heading to the Gold Coast for EP Tourer and F1 action – should be good.

Stock Electric saw a great final with less than 2 seconds splitting 1st,2nd and 3rd on the last lap. The lead changed just about every lap in the race as well. It was good to see Stephen come through with a win using brand new car. Hot bodies I think it was with Keith close behind and Peter rounding out the 3.
The B final was great. I qualified for POLE and never looked back to win comfortably which was a nice change!!
August 1st will see the start of the Summer Season and also the announcement of the winners of the Winter Season.
    See you all there.

Quite a good day at the Gold Coast. F1 sawa good battle between Adrian and Bob for TQ with Adrian taking the honors and going on to win the final.
In stock there was a good battle for TQ between Bob and Clinton. In the final they came to grief on the first lap leaving the way open for Johnathon and Steven to go to the lead. Johnathon crashed and broke his wing leaving Steven to take a good win. Further back Bob and Clinton staged an epic battle swaping places several times a lap for quite a few laps – good stuff.
In Mod Anthony had no trouble to TQ but in the final lost a tire and didn’t finish – not sure who won. Also not sure who won 540 which was a local derby today.

My performance today was less than ordinary. Made the mistake of running 2 cars and not giving either enough attention – hard to do anytime but when there are only 4 races in a round – you race in 2 and marshall 1 so no time for problems to be resolved.
On the Mi4 I had a wire almost off one on the 3 motor wires – just hanging by a couple of strands – sure felt like a slow 540 before the fatal smell that only a burnt brushless motor can make – binned it and fitted a new one ready for whenever – oh resoldered the wire as well.
The F1 was a whole other story – plenty of power but no handling. Found out the center shock that I fitted was actually too short and instead of supporting the front /rear flex it was actually holding the car down – hence grounding out ocassionally causing a spin – fixed it ready for Wednesday night – watch out Brad.
