The Vintage RC (pre 1990 rc vehicles) movement in Australia is gathering momentum. There appears to be a couple of branches of this movement – the real collectors (who collect old kits and cars usually new, unused or at least in pristine condition) and who love their cars to look great, spend hours on concors winning paint jobs etc etc. To collectors, detail matters – cars should be made as original as possible right down to the tyres, old radio gear, old batteries, speedies etc etc – sometimes old drivers as well 😆
And the other group – sometimes the same guys – are the runners – they love the same old cars but really they love to relive old memories by driving – even racing them. Sometimes cars they had in days gone by or sometimes just cars they always wanted but could never afford back then. I belong to the later group, a runner. I love to have a couple of the old girls around and to take them for a fang now and again – I’m really storing up some old cars for after I retire from work – I’m planning to hit the track once a week just like a golfer or bowler has his regular weekly outing – just spend a pleasant day under the trees out at Boondal or some other track with some mates. So my cars are really not that ready to go at the moment – the Hotshot is a re-release so it is ready but the Falcon is not quite ready and the Losi (JRX Pro SE – a Classic 1990-2000) has no shocks at the moment – I’m looking for some. I’m also negotiating around a Yokomo YZ10 at the moment as well – another 1992 Classic.
Surprisingly there are a few younger guys that are passionate about vintage – it’s not just the old has beens.
There is a National Vintage meet on at Ryde (Sydney ) on the 21st June which would be a great meet for anyone interested in Vintage – they will all be there. The Vintage cars and their drivers.
Here’s a picture of my Losi
