Chris Sturdy drove his Schumacher Mi3 to another emphatic win in 540 at the Interclub 2 event at Sunny Coast today, hosing off the best that the other clubs had to offer.
There were other winners as well today- and in both cases the expected happened, Tim Weier and Hesham Kadir are both reaching invincible status in Super Stock and Gas Tourer respectively.
I guess Chris Sturdy impresses me because of his age more than anything else. And for those who think his Dad does it all consider that today he was all alone and apart from a couple of bits of soldering that I did for him, when he was pressed for time, he did the rest himself, took his motor out every race and cleaned and prepared it – even during the blackout he found a way to prep the motor.
Every top sports person needs a bit of ego and self confidence and don’t be in any doubt Chris has these – just ask him.
I wonder how far he will go with this – maybe we are witnessing the next big thing, next week he makes his stock debut at Bayside – be interesting to watch how he handles that, be even more interesting when his Mi4 arrives, roll on the Qld Titles !
Sunday will be the big battle in Stock, Mod and Pro Nitro. Who will dominate these – the usual suspects or will someone unexpected jump up a notch to challenge the status quo.
