Stories from the world of RC car racing

Well the Tasmania trip was a huge success. I’m reaquainted with my grandkids, my son, my daughter-in-law, I’ve seen lots of the North of the State. played in the snow, seen lots of Targa and also on the last day got to drive a Associated RC8T truggy at the Opening Meet of the NWRCCC new facility at LaTrobe.
The meet was a good turnout of buggys, truggies, monster trucks and “others” – all very friendly and welcoming guys, a good strong club going places. It was really my first 1/8th offroad meet and my first ever drive of a truggy. The jumps are enormous (frightening actually when you are driving someone elses truck) but over the period of the day I gradually started to get to grips with the launch and the control in flight – seriously good fun. Was absolutely stocked to qualify 2nd and finish 5th in the final
Anyway I’m back now and ready for business as usual. I’ve got some more stock coming – some Protoform LTC Bodies and some more Mazda Speed 6 both in 190mm and also some 200mm bodies as well. A few other bits and pieces which I’ll remember about once I really get out of holiday mode.
So whats on this week ?

Welcome back Heavy, sounds like you had an awesome time. This week we’ve got Brendale Friday night which I think I’ll be attending as the misses goes to Melbourne on Saturday, so I’ll be running stock and GAS as I’ve tried something different with the clutch should be interesting. Come to Brendale Tony and Heavy for some GAS, give Trevor a chance to win that glow plug back 😆
Saturday night is Meakin Park, should be a good turn out as usual. I’ll try and get down for a run if I manage to convince the inlaws to babysit my kids since I’ll be taking their nephew with me 😉 😉
Not sure of Sunday but it might be BDR.
Then preparation for next weekend’s Interclub at the Sunny Coast which I have a leave pass for. Ill be running 540 and stock as I dont have a dedicated pitman for GAS 😥

Heavy, welcome back. There is NO racemeet at Bayside on the 17th. Which means only one thing. Must head north to Sunnycoast. I too am calling for a pitman. 😕 😕 😦

Fair chance I could make Friday night – cen has a broken side belt but I should get to that sometime this week and get it fixed, otherwise I think it’s good to go.
I’ll bring the glo plug just in case Trev turns up.
Maybe I can get a seniors challenge going for GT at teh Interclub – me, Trev, Big Phil, anyone else who we think is old enough. – not vazzo or tony

I noticed in the results that you had raced Johnathan and did ok in one heat – a few teething troubles in the other heats and final – need to get the reliability and consistancy back.
Well done Tony – very impressive debut to GT – you do know that you have to pit up the other end now don’t you – any electric driver that comes in the top three in a gas race can’t be seen again in teh electric pits 😆 😆
Vazzoton – doesn’t even have a decent ring to it – we’ll be watching out for that kind of skulduggery.
What bodyshell did you use on the Mugen.
I’ve got some bodies to paint before the Interclub – the new ActionRC corporate colours ❓

Ended up using a Protoform Stratus 3.1. The euro felt a little thin for Gas, so have kept it for a display. Ummmm Corparate colours wouldn’t be Camel yellow,, by any chance ❓ ❓ ❓ ❓

Johnathon – like all manufacturers Schumacher are being a bit cagy about teh exact date – parts are outsourced etc and they have to wait and see what comes and when – I know they are currently aiming for the middle of the month but pretty sure we won’t have it for the Interclub, hopefully Tamworth.

While you all wait for your MI-4’s, you could buy a gas car and race to fill in time. Just don’t paint them pink. 😯
