Stories from the world of RC car racing

For those who want the facts rather than make up a good story – read on.
The AARCMCC Super Stock was running a control tyre and running it to a combined AARCMCC /ORRCA format which required competitors to submit 3 sets of tyres at the start of the day and then leave one set in the impound for the finals and use the other sets for the heats.
At the end of the first day it was raining and a decision was made to wait longer see if the track would dry so the final heats of Gas Cars could be run. I opted, rather than sit around watching rain etc to go back to my motel and watch the F1 qualifying. In the wet pack up it completely slipped my mind that I had to hand my tyres in so I didn’t.
The next day just before racing started I was advised I had been disqualified – fair enough I went home. Not sure why they couldn’t have advised me earlier before i unpacked my whole car, charged batteries etc etc , or even why they couldn’t have rung me the night before even – but anyway that’s a minor gripe.
So there you have it – no mystery, no intrigue, just a dumb mistake on my part. Very embarassing I must say.

Heavy, vazzo has a point. If you were running the Schuie your way of thinking would have been more stable……therefor no disquilified Heavy. What were you thinking 😥 😥

I’ll take the blame. It was the only car I had on hand to send him. If I had an Mi3.5 here in Tassie, it wouldn’t have happened….! 😕

I even offered the old bugger the use of my 3.5 for the weekend. Wouldn’t be in it.

Bit hard to tell Paul. It was a 6 rounds of qualifing event dropping your worst 2 and we had only done 3 when teh axe came down. Think I was about 6th – not as well as I would have been doing with a Schuie 😆 😆

Just to preserve them for prosterity here are the rules under which tyres were controlled ( ❓ ) at the AARCMCC QLD SUPER STOCK 2009 TITLES
Super-Stock: as per AARCMCC rules with the following exceptions
    • Control Tyres – Sorex 36R any inserts and any rims (Driver supplied)
    • 3 sets tyres to be supplied by competitors to Impound at start of day for marking
    • 2 sets will be given back to competitors for days racing
    • All tyres returned to impound at end of day to be returned to drivers on second day.
    • The 3rd set will be given back to drivers prior to finals.
    • 1 set is 4 tyres, 4 inserts and 4 rims.
