Stories from the world of RC car racing

In about 4 hours I will sign off from the pesky day job, go home and pack 3 tonne of miscellaneous racing stock and spares and cars etc and a tent, a portable fridge, maybe a TV and antenna, some food and other goodies all into the dependable Corolla.
After a peacefull nights sleep (no doubt disturbed by fits of excitement ) I’ll be off to the Sunny Coast for 3 days of R and R at the Qld Gas Tourer and Super Stock Titles.
Thankfully there are small numbers so I will get plenty of time for the R&R side of the weekend – time to ponder the questions of life and think about the future.
Sorry for those of you who can’t make it.

Are you still coming down to Meakin Tony? There should be quite a few for stock. It’s like the bloody state titles every meet anyway. 😥

I got disqualified for not handing my tyres back into the impound after day 1 – fair enough that is the rules – no complaints except the inconsistancies.
Also in the rules but not applied to others – LIPO batteries not on the list but being allowed. Another driver who didn’t lodge his finals tyres until late saturday afternoon- nothing said – no penalty applied.
There are also inconsistancies in teh way the wing height rule was applied but I’m over that.

Sounds from all sources to have been a bit of a wash out as far as State title events go.
I went looking for the ORRCA rules regarding running of an event and couldn’t find them. AARCMCC have them in regards to how many days they are to be run over and a scheduled Rain day. Looks like ORRCA have something to look at rectifying so rules are applied consistently and fairly across the board.

Problem is with rain days most people just have to go to get back home to work etc – and more often than not when the rain day is say the Monday then it’s raining then as well.
    QUOTE
ORRCA have these comments on rain
    5.7. Wet Weather
5.7.1. A rain day should be allowed for in the race program.
5.7.2. The Race Director may interrupt racing due to rain or if there is water on the track.
5.7.3. If rain interrupts racing or qualifying the program can restart, from the last completed race, after
    a suitable delay.
5.7.4. At least 2 rounds of qualifying must be completed for an event to be decided if cancelled due to
    rain.
5.7.5. If rain interrupts Finals, any Finals that have been completed will stand. Where “A Finals”
consist of 3 legs, the results of any final legs completed will be used to determine results. I.e. If 2
legs of the “A Finals” are completed then both will be used to determine results with qualifying
used in the event of a tie. All other results will be decided using qualifying positions

Really now that ORRCA have some GAs rules as well there needs to be a split done so that the rules are general seperated from specific (1) General Rules (2) EP Onroad (EP Offroad) and (3) GAs Tourer.

Ahh.. they were hidden in the EP rules.
I think its fair to say that the rules package as a whole need to be looked at.
Its not much work to sort them out. General rules, Event running rules and then specific class rules.
I’ll put it out there that if they were written correctly, from scratch, and not just ammended from what is already there it would be easier to make them user friendly. They could take a look at the AARCMCC rule package as a guide line and then write ours with the view to make them more applicable to the QLD racer.

Yeah I saw that ya big girls blouse. I packed up once the rain came. I think the ended up running the finals once it dried up but I couldn’t be arsed hanging around past 10pm to see if it dried.

Vazzo has dried his eyes now 😥 😥 – he was just here getting some bits for his Schuie and has taken it off the market – so we’ll forgive him won’t we guys – no mention of dummy spitting or any of that stuff – not after the first few weeks anyway – well actually it’s a good story, could last 6 months 😆 😆 😆

HEHE… you were a little angry before you left Vaz… But better to spit the dummy and go home sometimes than stay and get more frustrated.
