Stories from the world of RC car racing

Bayside. Finally we got around to a normal club day and it was great.
Gas Tourer, Pro Tourer, Super Stock, Stock and 540 – no Mini – they seem to have disappeared as suddenly as they arrived.
A couple of new cars today – Toby and Vazzo fronting the new Schuies for the first time and were all smiles. A big welcome back to Big Phil in Gas Tourer and great to see a few more kids around the place.
For my day – well it’s hard to be teh only cheap RTR car in a field of Mugen MTX4’s but I loved it. Certainly learned a lot today about what I have to do to the CEN to try to get closer to the front – I have a set of Schuie shocks for it and a full range of springs for those – that should help and I need to lighten the clutch shoes a bit and maybe I’ll look at a lightweight flywheel as well – look out Mugens I’m coming.
It’s a secret but Tony Lewis bought a Mugen this week and plans some Gas Tourer action – Toby still hates Gas.

Look out RTR’s move over a Mugen is about to pass you……Aside from the jokes, thanks Heavy for sharing your knowledge today about gas racing. I have a very steep learning curve ahead. 😆

I had a ball today. Very happy with the Schui. Its time to sell the xray I think.
Its not that steep of a learning curve for gas dude. They are noisy smelly dirty nastly little things that will give you endless hours of frustration.

So take it back Tony and get another Schuie and run stock and Super Stock every week.
You know if you keep it Sparksy is going to get a drive of it while he is helping you get it set, and then he might end up losing his hate of nitro, and who knows where that will end – take it back and save us all. 😆 😆

New challenge, New frustration. I’m willing to persist. I had to stray to the dark side to find out what the obssesion is with these noisy smelly things. Heavy in four or five months you can always say “I TOLD YOU SO” 😕 Sparksy you can have a drive any time, just to make sure your not really missing nitro. 😆

    I’m missing it now… 😦
Its awesome fun. If you keep on top of preparation and maintenance, then its all good come race day. Take the time out to check over bearings and clutches etc and you will be sweet.

Sparksy, I am very ”Larry Perkins”when it comes to maintenence of a car. So if I apply this to Gas Cars, the only thing that will prevent me from a finish will be me, the driver. But on the same note I do respect that Gas Cars are more complex. All the more reason to apply this respect for these fickle machines.

Its an awesome car. It clearly gave me the best lap times and qual position in stock Ive ever had. It was good fun running with the top drivers as well, it’s amazing how much better it makes you drive.
    Very, very happy boy

I forgot where I finished. To overcome by nitro fumes.
