Stories from the world of RC car racing

After  a weekend of EP touring car action last weekend, today I returned to the dirt, mud and grass at Latrobe Speedway in Tasmania for some 8th scale buggy action.
The transition didn’t go so smoothly!
It pretty much took me all day to get my head back into offroad mode, with a sliding, kicking bucking buggy on a bumpy track causing me grief after two days of a perfectly handling touring car at spec-motor speeds.
But I still loved it!
Local fast man Tim Parsons had too much for me today, and he top qualified and won the final comfortably driving a Novarossi powered Mugen MBX6.  I brought the LRP S8BX (LRP engine) home second.  The rapidly improving Justin Strickland (Hyper 9/OS) was third.  Total about 45 entries today which was pretty impressive on a rainy weekend.
13 buggies in the A final, on a 20 second lap made for a pretty busy time negotiating traffic.

Next time I’m at Latrobe will be early May, and I’ll have Heavy in tow driving the RC8T.  I’ll try and shoot some video to capture the moment!  Click through for a couple more shots and some video of the LRP in all its glory…

The club is blessed with quite a few photographers who upload dozens of shots after every club event.  Nice!
Here’s a video of the first round of qualifying.  My performance went downhill after this race! Video courtesy Peter.  We also have a couple of dedicated video men who upload weekly videos.  Double nice!

That’s it for now!
