Stories from the world of RC car racing

Have I missed something – has there been an announcement that I haven’t seen – is there a place to go to see the rules, classes, dates etc.
Are there new rules for Gas Tourers – new engines allowed, RTR still ok etc.
Are there changes to the electric classes – 10.5 allowed in 19t, or new minimum weights etc etc. Mod going back to 5 cell – anything else radical.
If I’ve missed it or if there is a place to go to see it can someone point me to it – I get a lot of emails from people wanting to know when the 2009 page will be up on our website and I just don’t know. No-one has told me they don’t want a web page anymore, or that they do, it’s all a secret with only about 4 weeks to go till it’s supposed to start.

Why run 1425g weight limits if the ORRCA weight limit hasn’t changed? Seems to me its just making life more difficult for no practical reason.

Maybe after the ORRCA meeting tonight the ORRCA rules will be 1425 as well ❓

The weight limit is certainly not on my list of things to worry about – personally don’t care either way.

Apparently the rules etc just about finalised and we will have an info page on ActionRC as usual – watch for the update page any day now.

The info is now on the page so you can check it all out – there are a few issues to be resolved regarding bringing teh lists and stuff linked to teh page up to date but we’re working on it – but teh general idea is there. If it wasn’t for teh pesky day job (Saturday as well ) I’d have more time for RC.

Unfortunately for me, and anyone preparing a body for the AARCMCC pullstart class, will need a different body for the Interclubs becaus eof this rule.
    quote.
Both front side windows and the rear window can be removed for ventilation, except for the side rear windows, which must remain intact.
    unquote
The AARCMCC pullstart rules allow both side windows on one side to be removed (and none on the other side) to allow access to the pullsatrt.
    just another $40.

I’ll get busy and ask my club to put a submission to ORRCA about the window cut outs for pull start cars

Well unbeknowns to me ORRCA are as usual one step ahead of the action and passed a rule last week to allow bodies that have AARCMCC rule cut outs.
    Great work ORRCA.

    Robert,
The reason why 17.5 and 13.5 motors have been allowed in the super stock class is simply that some drivers who run brushless might not actually have a 10.5 motor but it’s likely that they do have a 13.5 or 17.5.
Although these motors aren’t going to be too competative against the 10.5’s, it at least gives those drivers the oppurtunity to race over the two days.
Without allowing the extra motors those drivers might be sitting at home on Saturday twiddling their thumbs instead of racing 😉

    Jason,
Will it be possible to see who is not running 19T or 10.5 and try and seperate them for heats??

Hmmm, not sure. Maybe we can put something on the entry forms but as the event is rapidly approaching, there may not be time to do it.
I think the reality is that there will only be a few (if any at all) that don’t use a 10.5 or 19t, so I don’t think there’ll be an issue with slower cars getting in the way (which I’m assuming is the reason you asked?).

The reason I ask is I will be one of the slower cars.

    Hi Chris,
Good to see you’re taking advantage of being able to run the slower motors in the Superstock class 🙂
I have made a request to the rest of the Interclub committee to have the entry forms altered so that we can “seed” the heats by motor type if possible.
