Today I left my house drove for less than 20 minutes and came to an Offroad track – Chargers at Redbank. There were a bunch of guys there and no race meet tonight just practice – but there were still a bunch of guys having fun with RC in their brand of the hobby. You can’t knock that – to them offroad is King.
I left there and headed home but 5 minutes from home stopped at another track and guess what – there were a bunch of guys there too – and guess what – they were also having fun with their brand of RC – drifting. Now I don’t get drifting as a concept at all and in the past I’ve always been dismissive of drifters, but not any more – these guys have RC cars and they are out there having fun with them – to them drifting is King.
Just because to me Onroad racing is King doesn’t mean I should be critical of other people enjoying their brand of the sport.
It’s still exciting to me after more than 20 years to see the enjoyment that messing with a RC toy car can bring to a person – even my grandson at 2 years of age was there on the podium with a transmitter in his hand driving a car – he didn’t know or care that the transponder wasn’t turned on – he was driving and that’s all that mattered.
What a great hobby.
