Stories from the world of RC car racing

I was just looking at the RC events I would like to do in the first half of the year – it’s scary stuff – obviously I am going to have to weed a few out – March and May in particular look nasty.
March 7/8 Bayside Cup – Interclub 1
March 28/29 GasTourer and Super Stock Titles – Landsborough
May 16/17 Interclub 2 – Landsborough and my wife’s birthday.
May 22/24 Tamworth Cup – I can’t miss that 2 years running.
June 6/8 Qld EP Offroad Titles – Townsville – the old stamping ground.
July 18/19 Interclub 3 – Logan
Factor in racing at Bayside every second Sunday and maybe the odd event at Redbank and things are looking very dicey indeed

Woman wisperer – that’s it 💡 oops they have to have a long mo don’t they – I don’t know anyone like that.
I need a pipe wisperer – tell me what pipe I need to buy to get me into the Interclub Gas Tourer class and the Qld Gas Tourer titles and the Qld Pull start Titles – I’m struggling a bit with the rules.
Actually looking at that schedule what I might have to do all jokes aside is only race one of the days at each of the Interclubs – how sad that will be.

Greg might change his mind when he finds out it’s on the same weekend as the Much More Masters

Interclub, I don’t think they look at them as long as it’s not to loud.
GT champs, one that meets ifmar specs, but doesn’t need to be approved, eg something like that shark pipe, 5.2mm max id X 10mm min length tail pipe, dual chamber and meets the noise level.
Pull start titles must be ifmar approved.
So if your are definatly going to run the Pull start titles, get an ifmar pipe will cover the lot.
Which one, the cheapest one you can get hold of.

    Ok – next question.
In my EP TC I run a spool in the front and I’m used to that and love it but the noisy car has a geared diff – I presume that I need heavy oil or grease or something for that to slow the diff down a bit – or should I just put blue tak in it ?
I presume there are different weight oils for diff tuning front and rear etc.
Man this is starting to sound like a lot of work.

Actually looking at that congested first few months it would probably be a lot better if the Logan event was Interclub 2 and then Sunny Coast went 3rd in July or August. Close the gap a bit between 3 and 4 as well.

With the front diff I use Serpent cleaning putty, I tried 100,000 weight first and then the putty and preferred the later.
The putty will wear the drive shafts a lot more.
The rear diff depends on the grip level, the higher the grip the heavier the oil you use.
Start with 10,000 and go up from there, the thicker the oil the more the car will steer from the back.
I’m using 30,000 at Brendale at present, It’s a little bit loose early but go when the grip comes up.
May be with Bayside first up maybe go with the 30,000.

I’m going to Tamworth as well. I’m only going so I can get the full course from Barger. 😆
I’ve been restricted to most Bayside club meets and only one day of the sunny coast interclub. Apart from that I have to invest in a baby sitter I think.

Just add a trip to Sydney on 14th feb to the spiritual home of RC in Australia – at least the coming of age of RC – the 89 Offroad Worlds 20 years on we are going to hold a commemorative vintage meet just before the track gets demolished and rebuilt on a different spot – to save THE tree. Fantastic.
