Stories from the world of RC car racing

The 2009 year for Bayside has started up with a great practice session today. Quite a crowd gathered to get some track time on the new surface and layout. Grip and traction turned up as well – no need for tyre warmers or other traction aids and the old rubbers worked as well as new ones.
Some new converts to 10.5 were there getting time in with the new Super Stock 10.5 motors – most made the change to more power look easy – I struggled with a speed control gremlin for most of the day. There were a fair crowd of Mini drivers out as well enjoying what is now a really good surface and layout for Mini racing.
Hats off to Doug and the rest of the workers for a job well done.
More practice next Sunday (11th) from 8.30 when the gates will be open and the power turned on – I’ll be practicing with my Gas car ready for The Presidents Shield on 25th. Get your entries in for that one it will be big – special encouragement prize to the best placed Schumacher driver in 540 and Stock on the day.

Today Doug handed me the trophy for winning the Bayside Club Championship for Stock Electric for 2008 – 💡 mmm maybe not to old after all 😆 😆

From what I saw Tony, you and Andrew did great with the extra speed. (as expected)
And yes, the track is awesome! More grip than before, almost no tire wear, old tires work great and the club has done an awesome job with the kerbing/ripple strips.
Should be a great year at Bayside. I will look forward to racing there in 2009! (even if it is in 10.5t)
