Stories from the world of RC car racing

The new extensions are scheduled to be ready for the off – The Presidents Shield on 25th January. Black stuff goes on 29th Jan and the

berms etc should be ready as well.

This promises to be a great event to kick the year off – I’ll be planning a few practice sessions between now and then as I have to make sure the Mi3.5 is ready and also I have a Ga* Tour**(oops nearly gave that secret away) to get ready as well before the day. I’m guessing the 11th might be a good practice day or some arvo’s after work.

If you are a Schumacher driver don’t miss this as there will be a Promotional prize for the best Schuie driver in stock and 540.

The PRESIDENTS SHIELD could be my last event in stock – I am so looking forward to running 10.5 after that. Would be good if we could run that at the Interclubs as well – if not, so be it I’ll still be running it at club level. I’m certainly not looking at it as a stepping stone to mod, but as a class in it’s own right, a faster class than stock – more manageable and more affordable than mod.
To me, it makes sense to line our classes up with what is raced Interstate – makes it easier at times like Tamworth, Nationals etc so I definitely won’t be supporting the few who are calling for a 8.5 or a 6.5 class – makes no sense to me to go anywhere but a national class.
    10.5 – the class of 2009.

Will the track be open ‘fully’ (ie. boom gate down so you can drive in, power on, driver’s stand open)?
Also, will there be any other days that the track is fully open for practice?
And Heavy, I totally agree with you on the ‘superstock class’ (10.5t)….why go to another motor that is out of line with the rest of the country. (the mexiguns abandoned the 8.5t in favour of the 10.5t for that reason).
And doesn’t it always seem like the few who rarely race or race that class that have the biggest opinion.

So is the 10.5 brushless comparable to the 19T brushed? I was going to run brushed next year in Stock & 19T(SuperStock) but I wont bother if you cant be competitive with the brushed equivilant. I know 27t/17.5 is OK.

Obviously I haven’t tried it being a brushless fanatic but the word is that the 19t brushed is still competitive with the 10.5 so you should be fine – so does this mean you are going to be racing a bit in 2009 ?

Should be racing in ’09. To what extent I am still negotiating. As good as brushless is I miss the tuning aspect of brushed motors. Brushless is all to easy. If I have to go 10.5 to be competitive, so be it.

a real good brushed 19t is prety darn fast, but i have not tried a 10.5 brushless. so i cant compare directly .

wether you do well or not, it just feels better to have more power under your trigger 🙂

All of the track at bayside is now re-surfaced. Yes the new part and the old track. Looks fantastic. Watched a car go round and there is massive amounts of grip.
