The action was HOT
The racing was HOT
The weather was HOT
For the first time we had a line up of Mini’s at Bayside – 6 in fact lined up for what was a roll fest.
Most got their cars a little more stable during the day but there were still plenty of rolls even in the final. For my first go at Mini for a number of years I was quite frustrated in the first race – plenty of speed but rolling everywhere – came last. Put some stiffer springs on the rear for the second race – a little better but still plenty of rolling. Changed some steering settings in the radio and finally got going. Managed 2nd in the final behind Martin and one of only 2 that did the 17 laps in the final. Had a good dice with Simon on the way through. Ashley qualified 2nd but was unlucky in the final when his motor went very soft. Feel that I got enough knowledge to not be totally out of it next weekend at the Mini Cup.
540 was the usual one heat with the interest being for me that Kahla Scott would be running a Mi3 this week. As it turned out Bob fiddled with the ratios a bit and got the motor a bit hot before he got the right number. TQ went to young gun Chris Sturdy in the Schumacher from Steve Evans and Mitchell Hollis. In the final after a messy first lap Khala led from Chris for a few laps before running wide and letting Chris through. So the 2 young Schumacher drivers Chris followed by Khala took the honours followed home by Steve Evans then Mitchell, Doug, Reece and Toshy .
In Stock today Clinton was absolutely untouchable. Set TQ and lapped the field in the final – just 2.446 seconds of the elusive 22 laps. I managed a second ahead of Tony Lewis to give the Schumacher cars 2nd and 3rd – not bad.
The nitro was interesting – there is no doubt that Jason Dorn was the class of the field in both Gas and Open – gee he’s good to watch on that track.
Next race meet at Bayside Sunday 30th November usual time.
cheers
