Stories from the world of RC car racing

With only weeks to go to the next big event racers are all focusing on Logan this Saturday as the last possible practice race meet before the big one.
The 2008 Gas Tourer Championship. This one is for Gas Tourers but with a slight difference – only the OS TG engine can be used unfortunately the dollar drop has seen the cost of these engines soar to well over $200 from the about $100 they were once. For anyone not having engines on hand this could have made the event harder – especially all the talk of needing 2 engines hasn’t helped. The fact that you need a special pipe as well hasn’t helped. In spite of all that I’m sure there will be plenty lining up for the event.
2008 Qld Mini Cup. Logan is the Qld stronghold of racing Mini’s and they have a regular turnout of a dozen or so. The lure of a big event will no doubt attract many more – those of us who have a Mini in the cupboard will no doubt be thinking about dusting it off. It’s possibly to run one of these cheaply but if you want all the good stuff (some for performance, most for durability, and some for bling) at todays exchange rates then it gets quite expensive to set up. Fortunately you should get through on one set of tyres. There are some names getting Mini’s prepared so watch the lap records tumble.
All should make for a very interesting night this Saturday night – be there.

At the last ORRCA meeting we updated the rules on exhausts, pipes only have to meet the ORRCA rules for size and noise level.
We have found that some pipes meet the rules but haven’t been approved for use by IFMAR.

If racing is called off on Saturday night due to weather we will be racing Sunday morning instead.
Check the meakin park thread on rctech for more updates.
The weather report definately looks better today than it did last night so here’s hoping.

Went to Logan tonight but it was washed out – racing Sunday from 8.30.
There was only one gas car there that I saw and a couple of TC and millions of Mini’s (well probably a dozen).

Took my Mini for a blat on the street – looks like it’s pretty good – managed to roll it on a full speed hairpin – pretty good roll too 😆
Guess I’ll have to run it at Bayside on Sunday to make sure it’s all good for the Cup.
