Night Time racing under lights made it’s return today with the Chargers club recommencing night racing at their new complex at Redbank Plains.
Good to see a strong turn out of EP 2wd and 4wd Buggies and Trucks for teh first night meet this summer.
I really went out to check out the debut of Gary Sturdy’s Schumacher CAT SX. (Should have really had mine ready but slackness overtook me ). Gary’s car actually looked pretty good on the track certainly rides the jumps well and not bad over the rougher sections of the track either – came home enthusiastic to finish mine off.
Put some paint on the body and a few decals today – just a bit of work to do on the electrics and she’ll be ready to go.
Any of you offroad guys looking for tyres I have some Holeshots and some Bowties at $16.50 if you need them. Don’t have any 4wd fronts at the moment but I will get some.

CAT is finished – (see pics above, Camel Yellow rules, still need to glue up tyres – why can’t we get preglued for offroad ) but not sure I can get there next week yet – will let you know before then.
Sadly Chargers race the same weekend as Bayside which makes things very difficult for me and others.LikeLike

I’ve just been out on the driveway (and the street ) giving the CAT it’s first run – now I’m enthusiastic – what a machine – can’t wait to get on some dirt. Not sure the kit tyres will be much good on the dirt – especially after I’ve been flogging them around on the street 😀 😀 😀 😀

Gentle? eyewitness reports have you sideways and redlined in 3rd gear coming off the motorway offramp at narrabundah…..with big mac hanging out the window yahooing. my poor little car…. 😥

The Cat gets dirty.
Got up early – watched the Fords kick Holdens butt courtesy of my dvd recorder and then headed out to Redbank Plains for teh CATS first taste of dirt.
Pretty good, tracks good, turns in good, pulls out good, jumps good (well all but one jump – the one nearest the drivers stand is a challenge – I just can’t figure it out ). I may need to go a slightly firmer front spring to just help on that last triple jump.
Overall I was fairly happy with the whole deal – for those who have been laughing – yes the kit tyres work ok at Redbank – not too bad at all.LikeLike

Things were fired up at Redbamk on Saturday – there were two heats of mixed stock, two of mixed mod and a heat of trucks. Everyone appeared to be having a good time.
I put a pack through the CAT and must say I was again pleasantly surprised. Apart from my lack of Offroad driving for a few years, and my trying to learn the track at the same time the CAT forgave me most of my nervousness and just got on with it – did enough to see the potential and slowly my enthusiasm for Offroad is returning – looks like I might have to miss Bayside next fortnight and take in a full meet at Redbank.LikeLike
