As some of you may have heard, a spectator was injured during the last race meeting at Wynnum.
Standing what most considered to be a safe distance back from the track, he was left with little time to react to the car which had left the track and become airborne at the end of the main straight.
One bystander commented ‘It’s a miracle that he was able to walk away from the crash, when I saw the car hit him, I thought he was a goner!’.
The driver of the car, Leonard Lai, has declined comment but was visibly shaken after the incident. The exact cause of the crash is still unknown. Some racers in the pits suggest mechanical failure was to blame, while others speculated that it was driver error.
The good news is the victim, Mr Pigeon has just been given a clean bill of health.
Pigeons – Look out, the swallow is the new bird of prey in town!
