ORRCA and LIPO

Overnight ORRCA made 2 decisions regarding LIPO that will have differing affects on people.
1. LIPO now allowed in 540 – I personally think this is a great decision.
2. Only LIPO on the ROAR LIPO approval list will be allowed at ORRCA events from after the Qld OFFROAD titles in mid August.
Now I support going to the ROAR list – I always have, but the timing distresses me somewhat. People have been buying LIPO for a few months now following the ORRCA published approval list and now find that a month before the Qld ONROAD titles the goal posts will be moved. I suppose that the rules had to be brought in sometime, but having had a list published for months now, against which people have been buying, why do the rules have to be changed before the Onroad titles – there are going to be some angry racers out there when the full import of this change hits home – come on ORRCA delegates think about this and at least move the starting time till after the 2008 Onroad Titles.
Incidentally, in case anyone is thinking I have an ulterior motive here – no I don’t have any non ROAR approved batteries in stock that I want to sell. I only have the 2 types of CORE LIPO in stock which are both on the ROAR list.

+1 – This same thing happened with the 13.5EX Novak BL motor.
I propose a motion that all technical rule changes be ratified and published by at least 3 months prior to the start of the next calendar year, with no further rule changes during that year. In other words, we have one set of un-changeable rules for a full 12 months.
Benefits: Importers/retailers know what to order for next years forecast purchases. Racers know their investment is good for at least 12 months.

Not quite right Matti. The 13.5EX was never an approved ORRCA motor, so I don’t think we can blame ORRCA for that one. You might be getting the Interclub confused with ORRCA – 2 different things alltogether.
When the Interclub allowed the 17.5 the 13.5EX was still allowed to run in the class till after round 3 (virtually the whole year of Interclubs). So teh 13.5 EX is not a throw away until after this coming weekend.
I do agree it would be nice to have a years rules set in stone – that’s what the Interclub committee has always tried to do.

Yep – right again Heavy – I did get the 13.5EX confused with the ORRCA rules. My bad. 😳
Good to see the introduction date has slid back to the beginning of next year though. Now it is starting to sound like it should! 😀
