Stories from the world of RC car racing

😛 Here we go again – another Bayside race day. Also the club trophies for the last season will be handed out.
I’ll be running my new Mi3 – see if I put it together right – in stock and possibly the Serpent in 540 to give the boys something to chase. Maybe I’ll bring the Gas Tourer as well – wonder if anyone has ever run 3 classes on one day before ❓ ❓
See you there.

Actually after the week I’ve had I think I’ll just run the Serpent in stock – leave everything else at home.

Well that was what I call a race day. I’ll focus on electric as usual cause I really didn’t have time to look at the gas.
    540
It was great to see a lot of younger racers having a ball in 540. Karla Scott is definitely coming on in leaps and bounds and there are a couple of others also threatening to be the most improved – good to see – keep it up kids.
    Modified
Pretty much not worth reporting on. I haven’t seen a decent mod field since ORRCA killed it with the very questionable 5 cell rule. 2 cars today certainly not the spectacle that mod should be.
    Stock
22 cars and some of the best EP drivers in Qld assembled for what would be a great days racing, with TQ going down to the last heat and a cracker of a final.
Just because I like doing it here is a breakdown of the final qualifying
    JP – Corally
    Keith – TC5
    Barger – Mi3
    Brad (Hall) – 08
    Clinton – Mi3
    Adrian – Corally
    Heavy – Serpent
    Graham Lloyd Jones – Mi3
    Nick Orr – 07
    Rex -08
    What a fantastic line up.
In the final I was having one of those races you’d rather foreget – more hits than Elvis as they say. JP took an early lead but had a motor flame out 2 laps from home handing a win to Keith closely followed by the Mi3’s of Clinton and Bob.
I’d rather race against 22 any day than a tame 8 and when you think there will likely be 50 cars in stock at the Qld’s what a treat we are in for – and who could even begin to predict a winner ?
I’ve asked Doug to get a ruling from the committee before next meet on the question of traction compounds for the titles. The club normally rules against it but it’s important in the lead up to know exactly where we stand so we can all be on the same page so to speak – stay tuned I’ll let you know as soon as I know.

I thought Mod died because Scott & I moved away… (at least that’s the way we remember it) 😎 😆

I should have also said that Schuie drivers took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the clubs summer season trophies awarded yesterday.
Ahh Pete – good to hear from you – you could be right. I have no doubt everyone will have a differing opinion from mine as to why mod died but I have spoken to a few who don’t race mod now because of the 5 cell rule.
