Stories from the world of RC car racing

As usual we are spoiled for choice this weekend – or is that another mini ironman possibility.
Logan Saturday night, Sunny Coast Sunday.
Could be a few at Logan as we all start to get in practice for the upcoming – and all important Interclub 3 – can any club beat Logan on their home turf – I’m thinking of racing Gas Tourer on the Saturday of the Interclub just for something different. I think that after this Saturday there is only one more race night before the Interclub. Maybe Tuesday nights will get busy.
There are also working bees on 2 offroad tracks on Saturday – Logan and Chargers both have working bees scheduled. Or some of us could just be boring and go to work as usual.

Busy couple of nights for me.
Built a new Mi3 for myself.
Cleaned up my old Mi3 ready for sale and dug out some spares to go with it.
Put some decent servos in my Gas Car ready for Saturday night if I get keen.
Did a bit of work on the S400 in case I ever want to run 540 again.
Had a few customers to yarn with.
Spent some time cleaning the house after a week of batching before my wife came back from Tasmania.
Get a better week than that

Quite a few drivers turned up to bounce around Meakin tonight.
A full heat of mod and a full heat of 540, 2 heats of stock and a full heat of gas, I think the Mini numbers were down a bit but still 6 or 7 I think it was.
Some good racing with JP doing the stuff in mod, good to see Big Mac (not so big mac ) down from Toowoomba for the run. Also good to see a few mod drivers for a change.
In Mini it was Scott Harris (another weight shedder – almost qualifies for the nickname Mr Mini these days) who led the way home in the final.
Michael Sherman was the class of gas – a mixture of Open Gas and Gas Tourer with Martin Nicholls being the best of the Gas Tourers. I had a mixed night with a couple of good heats and the most spectacular run away ever seen – straight off the end of the main straight at full noise – took JP 10 minutes at full sprint to chase it down and bring it back from the swamp. Good work JP the “marshalling above and beyond the call of duty” award. Anyway it wouldn’t run for the final so not sure yet if I’ve cooked the motor or what – I’ll check that out some time in the future.
540 was a good battle between some of the usual protagonists – Robert, Gary and Simon – I could be wrong but I think Gary got the TQ and Simon won the final – or maybe Robert got the TQ. ANyway they were all smiling.
Clinton Livingstone in his Mi3 (go the Schumacher) was untouchable in stock, winning every heat on his way to TQ – shredding a set of 28’s on the night and running the finals on canvas he was nevertheless able to put close to a lap on the field – I think Keith finished second and Shev third – fatherhood slowing him down?
Congrats to Shev on the birth of a new daughter – great work. We’re looking for our first female Team driver – hope we find one before Shev’s daughter is old enough
All in all a good and enjoyable night out.

TQ for 540 was a Schumacher Mission in the first race – 15 laps.
We only just managed a 15 lapper in the final.
    Was a great night.

Of course Robert – I knew that just the old age and forgetfulness thing.
Congratulations on the TQ – first step to a TQ and Win.
