Stories from the world of RC car racing

Less than 2 weeks away now the annual trek to Tamworth for the Interstate challenge against NSW (Cockroaches).
The score is about level I think or maybe they are 1 up on us but who cares – it’s all about this year now. The Action R/C shield is up for grabs as are boasting right for the next 12 months. Why not make the trek and help us wrest the shield back of those pesky cockroaches. You can race two classes – all the heats on Saturday and the finals on Sunday.
C’mon Queenslanders – it’s a great track and worth racing on.

The bad news (for me at least ) is that I won’t be going to Tamworth – still too sick to make teh drive and be in the cool morning and evening air of Tamworth.
I can’t believe that I am actually going to miss a event at Tamworth – think I’ve done all their major events since the first Interstate challenge (offroad electric) in the early days.
Anyway the decision is made now, I’ll try to stop crying before I see any of you.
Good luck all who are going – bring back teh ActionR/C Shield – it’s our turn.
    cheers

Excitement is mounting (in some houses) as cars are being packed ready for the 4 am departure. I am so, so cheesed off.
Anyway pleased rive carefully guys – especially if you are going to drive home Sunday night – take plenty of rest breaks and river changes.
    GO WELL

Talk about getting blood out of a stone.

Well the Tamworth Cup was run and won and by all accounts was a great event. For our first time across the border for an event all three of us won something. The numbers were down on previous years but the competition was hot in all classes.
I didn’t see much of the 540 because of the carnage every lap, but Stock was very exciting on and off the drivers stand. Martin Nicholls taking the win from Clinton with our PIT BITCH Nick Orr taking 3rd. Very close racing in stock led to the 3rd final determining who would win the event with Martin coming out on top.
Mod was a close battle all weekend with qualifing going down to the last round to give Anthony pole and then Russel and then Drew. Anthony should have wrapped it up earlier on Saturday afternoon but his batteries in 5 cell couldn’t make run time. So after a quick change to 6 cell and drop to 4.5 he was able to edge out Russel. Drew took the first 2 heats with Anthony 2nd leaving Russel and Tim to fight for third. Unfortunately Tim suffered from car problems in the last final and Russel drove well to secure third.
Thanks To Anthony and Rob and Tim and Bernie for lots of help and friendly conversation over the 3 days. Made the weekend heaps of fun.
    I also won Concourse .

My apologies to Tim and Bernie.
Tim dominated 19t from the moment he put the car on the track. Led every qualifying round and TQ’ed by I think 2 laps. Led every race and lapped up to and including 2nd place. Well deserved win for the effort put in to run both clasess.
Tristen took out second and can’t remember third.

Looking forward to seeing the DVD Tom. The event was obviously well down on numbers from previous years – very sad, it’s still one of my favourite tracks to race 1/10th EP on.
