Friday night 4th April – Brendale – Gas Tourer and electric – mmm might be a good time to finally give the GPX4 a run – it has the pull start OS TG engine onboard (not run in yet but might be by next Friday ).
SUNDAY 6th – Bayside. With the Easter holiday it’s a month since we raced at Bayside and it seems like a lot longer.
Who’s up for it – I’m predicting 3 full heats of stock – won’t that be a buz. I heat of mod and 1 heat of 540, 2 heats of Gas Tourer and possibly 1 heat of Open Gas.
The Mi3 is ready for stock, the Serpent is ready for 540 (if necessary ) and the GPX4 is ready for Gas Tourer. I’ll race 2 classes and one of them will be stock.
Get yourself down there – you know you want too.

I’ve nothing ready so unless I can get these servo gears, no racing for me this weekend.
Might take the stadium truck for a bash though.
If the servo gears arrive I’ll race at Brendale on Friday night. Rumour is there will be a few new gas guys coming (both new to the sport and new to gas)

I should be right for Wynnum for stock. Just purchased an MTX-3 PROSPEC and have just ordered the OS TG motor for it. So hopefully Ill hit Brendale and Wynnum shortly for some GAS. Purpose for GAS purchase was that my extended family have just migrated from Sydney and they are all GAS drivers so I had to do the right thing by them lol. I cant wait.

Sunny coast on Sunday too… Where there will be a couple of Brand new MI3’s running for the first time… Would love to make the trip to Bayside, we’ll see as it gets closer to QLD titles you might see us a bit then…

MTX4 ?
I always choose what I am definitely going to do (Stock at Bayside ) and then see if I can massage my time (and get around the wife ) to get any other racing in as well.LikeLike

Was a good race day – strong entry and good feeling – lots of fun happening and then the rain came – I think we completed 2 rounds alltogether before the close down.

Rained out ..what a shame….
Well we had a full days racing on the sunny coast.
Here’s my wrap up of the day:
5:10am : Alarm goes off an I stumble out of bed and get ready to be on the road to pick up Matty from Maryborough, for the drive down the coast, raining here so I check the radar to see no clouds over the coast , good to go.
8:00am : Arrive at the track and setup after playing a practical joke on Shevo who was already at the track after a weeks work in Brissy ( We told him we forgot his transmitter, but after much laughing and rolling around by me an Matty we decided to give it up to him) we setup and got about having our first run with the Schuie.
Controlled practice I got to test out the new car and the Orion 13.5(new to me as well) And I was straight away blown away by the speed of this motor and the smoothness of the car, until it came to a sudden stop and started to eminate smoke from the car, (not a good sight from the drivers stand when this is the fisrt run for this car and combo).Upon inspection I appeared to have done some damage to the motorof some sort, so back to the pits to tell Matty, to whom I had just lent my LRP13.5 that he had just finished wiring in that I needed my motor back ( he wasn’t happy, back to brushed power for him) So back with LRP power and a conservative 45.5mm rollout It was time for our first qualifier which didn’t go so well for me, the car felt pushy into corners and under brakes of which I had way too much dialed in for the sintered rotor motor, but luckily it was called due to rain, So a dial out of some brakes and a slight delay it was rerun, this time for me to have some new body clearance issues to which I pulled it in to inspect, whilst Matty went on to win followed by Keith Mac and then Shevo (who we reckon was just playing ) but the car still felt great smooth but still slightly pushy and was lacking in the steering department, it just didn’t change directions fast enough in the quicker chicaines.
I persisted with the steering during the second qualifier thinking it was just me whilst I got used to the new car ( I didnt want to push the car too much, as I was still getting a feel for it, I was impressed still by the smoothness of the car and how quiet it was as it was driving by.
Third qualifier, I decided to change the front upper shock mount position to help with changing direction in the higher speed sections, I also checked my steering throw to make sure I was getting the entire travel, which I was. I initally built the car ustin Ashton’s Ashpalt setup that comes with the kit with the exception of dialing out some rear toe for the spec’d class . i change the front shock upper position to the second outter hole as opposed to the third. To my amazement this was a huge difference, the car changed direction faster and had noticeably less push, it was planted and fast.
For the final I left it like that and just throughly enjoyed the drive , the MI3 is so easy to drive and when pushed hard it still remains glued to the track, and if Shevo and Keith weren’t there I would have won…lol. But third behind Keith aint to shabby for my first outting with the MI3, which I’m sure will only improve with time….LikeLike
