Stories from the world of RC car racing

I have some somewhat unexpected news to share. This week Sheri and I have accepted an invitation to take up a new consulting role based in Launceston, Tasmania. We’ll be packing up the r/c gear (oh, and some furniture, and probably the kids) and making the big trip south over the easter period, and I’ll commence work early April.

Besides farewelling family and friends, this also means saying goodbye to South-East Queensland’s R/C scene. I’m going to miss the racing tremendously. Most of all though, I’m going to miss the great mates and strong friendships I’ve made. The wonders of video Skype will have to replace trackside banter – at least for the next few years. I will of course keep up to date with what’s going on via Dad, and our team of contributors who WILL be posting regular updates here at actionrc.com.au (you WILL won’t you lads!).
I have no idea how strong the racing scene is in Tassie – and particularly in the north where we’ll be based. I suspect I’ll be endeavouring to find out where I can get my fix! Sadly we’ll arrive a couple of weeks after the 2008 Tas Champs.
I hope to squeeze in a couple more races here before we depart – and particularly plan to run EP Modified at the first interclub for the season. Fair warning to all other EP Mod entrants at that event: I’d like to leave on a winning note so if you can all half-charge your packs for the first two A finals, that would be great. “Accidentally” crashing to allow me to pass is also acceptable.
To all of you who I’ve had the pleasure of racing with, sharing road trips, or telling the inevitable tall stories in the pits, thanks for the good times. Hopefully I’ll visit a race track occasionally when we’re “up here” on holidays. As opportunity permits I’ll tell a few Tassie stories here from time to time – except in winter when my fingers will be frozen solid and typing will be difficult….
Cheers
Scott
PS We will have a spare room for visitors…

You may go to Tasmania and I suppose you may take your wife – but taking MY grandchildren was never agreed and never a part of the deal.

    Scott,
The only electric onroad in the state is here in Hobart. Up north its mainly nitro offroad. Its only a 2 hr drive from Launnie to Hobart. Looking forward to seeing you down here.
