This weekend sees the running of the 2007 EP On-Road Australian Championships at South Australia’s Littlehampton circuit. We’ll try and bring you news from trackside during practice and over the weekend as the event unfolds.
This years event sees four classes being run – and though entry numbers are slim, competition will certainly not be lacking.
12th Scale: SA’s Rhys Marshall is a big chance in this class, together with Scott Giles. Without knowing any of the other entrants, those would the two I think are most likely to be up front.
Stock Tourer: This should be good. Look for Luc Botton, Michael Jones, Rhys Marshall and Damien Zarb to be up front with Ben Lawson and Jeff Primmer not far away. Best of luck also to Queenslander’s Brian Cook and Jeremy McAuley (both from Bundy).
19T Tourer: I’m not sure why this class is being run, but racing should still be interesting. Luc Botton once again will be hard to stop and will have to deal with Scott Giles, Peter Ellis, Ben Maker and Mark Lawson.
Mod Tourer: Just about everybody who matters will be there making this definitely the highlight of the weekend. Simon Nicholson and Peter Jovanovic start as favourites, but watch out for Jake Zarb, Steve Jovanovic, Jesse Davis, Andrew Abbott and Andy Cooke as well. Anthony Atack should make the A final, with Leonard Lai and Peter Dooley both also a chance of sneaking in. There is some serious talent we haven’t even named – Campbell, Vergunst, Maker, Feigl, Khemlani, Parkinson etc etc et. I think it will be Nicholson, Jovanovic, Jovanovic…
