Word on the street is that the Qld Titles may well run to “round-by-round” or “Qual Points” qualifying format. Personally I’m a fan, and I look forward to running under the new system (if in fact we do get to at the Qld’s). Presumably it will mean that four out of 6 qualifying rounds will count – putting a premium on consistency along with speed over the course of the qualifying. Should be interesting to face a new challenge!

Yes, if the club chooses to use ’round by round’ qualifying, it will certainly be 4 out of 6 races counts towards your overall qualifying position.
And I am a BIG fan as well……..takes the ‘rocket round’ out of contention.

Enrty form updated (540 motor is NOT self supplied). It will be a handout motor from the club/ORRCA QLD.

Well I’ve booked a room and after a couple of years of not racing at the Titles and running the tyre impound I figure it’s my turn to race.
One big problem has just dawned on me – for the last long time I have been running 13.5 brushless in stock at club level and Interclubs. Now for the Titles I have to make a choice – run mod or go buy a stock motor, brushes and all the other stuff, borrow a lathe – who can be bothered with all that – maybe I make my mod debut – wonder where I’ll figure in the pre race predictions

So do I run 6 cell with the 6.5 or the 4.5 and do I run the 4300 tomorrow night at Logan to start getting a feel for faster than stock or do I wait till I get up the Sunny Coast again – probably 30th September before I start experimenting.

Right, enough yacking. Time for tips.
    540: Chris Hyde.
    Stock: Shev
    Mod: Me.
That was easy! If only the racing would go so easily next weekend….
Seriously, I’ll back the 540/stock predictions above (though Tim Weier and Karl Yeung might threaten in Stock. Or Martin Nichols if he runs stock, or Johnny Hyde if he enters. Should be good. Making the final will be a huge effort.
In Mod? Anthony Atack, Andrew Abbot, Peter or Steve Jovanovic would be the A grade contenders with a second line including Shaps, Keith Mackrill, Michael Sherman, Leonard Lai, Drew Crawley. Then the old guys – Perkins/Dooley/Guyatt/Nichols. Aaahhh, i was fast once (true!).

i dont know about that… jp left us all eating his dust in round 3 on the weekend, so much so that all the mod drivers gathered around and voted to isntall him as the clear favourite!

YES, JP was on fire!!! And also Scotty, you forgot about poor Simon ‘Smegal’ Feigl. (hopefully, he won’t become Bob jnr)

ahh, I did forget about Simon. Probably others too…
Simon I’m putting in Group 2. JP I’m keeping with Peter and myself. The old men of modified racing need to stick together.

We heard you were working that weekend and couldn’t make the titles otherwise naturally you would have been named in the squad – no show without Big Mac.
We need to know if you are coming otherwise I might be forced to buy a new shade shelter.
Just removed the brushless and the GTB and started to bolt in a brushed (ugh) stock motor and looking around for a speedy – I swore I’d never race brushed again but apparently I lied.

Just weekend of racing was had by all. Congrats to all the winners and competitors and also to the club for a well run meet. Some hard luck stories happened on the weekend and Drew and I had our share but came away with some pretty good results considering the competition. Thanks to Scott and Heavy, John Perkins, Matt, Chow and Chev for the enjoyable entertainment Saturday night. Great company and was good to share your race results. Thanks to Tones for the Magic speedy that keeps its smoke.
