No – there’s no broken bones – maybe a brain scan would have been a better deal.
Just because I wanted a change I was bidding on a Tamiya TA05 on ebay last Sunday and missed it because the price went beyond sanity. On the rebound from that I had a cyber chat with Adrian Beggs and negotiated a super deal on a very new and heavily modified Xray T2007 – it’s the rubber tyre model with the front multi diff.
It makes absolutely no sense for me to run anything but Schumacher because of the spares I carry for that car and the low cost of those spares but hey I’m old and probably senile and just felt like a change – so it’s an Xray for the Interclub 3 – both days and possibly for the Qld Titles. Naturally the GTB has been installed (the best install I’ve ever done of the cumbersome GTB ) and I’ll be running the brushless 4300 in 19t and the 13.5 in stock.
I’m pretty enthusiastic about running a bit of touring car racing again as retirement didn’t suit me all that well. I’m not planning to go back to the old days of being at every meet every weekend or anything like that, I’m just going to race where and when I feel like it, and where I can resume some old enjoyable rivalries and where I can maybe help some newer guys get up to speed. There could be a fair bit of laughing happening as well I reckon.
I would (if I could figure it out ) upload a picture so that the observant amongst you can see that the car has the Tamiya shocks fitted and also HPI front arms and uprights (I have the originals as well ). I put three packs through the car on Tuesday night at Logan and it certainly seems pretty good – heaps of rear end grip, maybe a tad of slow speed understeer, I think it will be good at Sunny Coast but next Friday week we’ll find out for sure.
My comparisons
Changing a spur gear Mi3 = 3 screws Xray = 11 screws
