Stories from the world of RC car racing

The 2007 HPI Winter Champs is one of Australia’s most hotly contested Touring Car races, and it’s underway this weekend at the Whalen track in the west of Sydney.  Day One classes include Nitro Pro and Pullstart and the HPI Challenge. The HPI class is open to drivers of HPI/Hotbodies cars (like the Cyclone and Pro 4) with the carrot of a expenses paid trip to the HPI All Asia Challenge in Bangkok in December this year.
Day 1 is in the books, and the biggest news of all is that the big Thailand prize (courtesy HPI/HB) has gone to our very own Peter Dooley after a TQ and win in the HPI Challenge class!  Congratulations to Peter – you legend!
Results from Nitro classes aren’t available yet – we’ll update this post when we hear news.
Results from Day 2 will be added if and when we hear them.
Peter Dooley, Leonard Lai and Anthony Atack are in attendance – and will post full race reports (including the story of Peter’s triumph) on their return.

Congrats to Pete “grandpa” Dooley on his win in the HPI Challenge class. I think from all accounts he TQ’d by quite a fair margina and won the finals. (could be wrong??? – will confirm shortly)
Unfortunately, I was not able to attend. Looks like the mod field will be ‘super fast’ tomorrow with Ari, DC, Nicolson, Flea, Grandpa, Fiegl, Troy Lachlin, Ryan Maker to name just a few. Making the A main will be tough!
