Stories from the world of RC car racing

With yet another weekend looming it’s time to have a look at the opportunities for racing.
Friday night Brendale – 19t, stock and Gas Tourer. I’m going to give the Gas Tourer another flogging – it’s very near the end of it’s life now so this could even be the swan song for this car.
Sunday Bayside – I will be there and running stock again I reckon – probably continue testing with the 13.5 brushless. Actually I do happen to have a Harris RC Lipo pack to test as well  during practice or at some stage. Now where can I borrow a charger suitable for charging a Lipo?
Should be a great weekend – could be a wet track on Sunday.

Well Friday night is done – Brendale was a great night for me – sadly no rain so we got the whole program finished. The R12 was better than the driver last night – I’ll claim 1 was struggling for tyres to reclaim some pride. I’ll claim a win over Ding and a loss to Trevor in the old mans war. Trev made the A (just) but I only made the B – and then came a lowly third in the B. Anyway on a more positive note I got to pit for one of the stars of the 20 minute A final and had a great time doing that.
Jason Elton had the EC humming in 19t last night to take a great win in the final, the Schumacher looking every part a winner.
In mod the star of the show was Darren Perry in TQ followed by John Perkins and I think Leonard and Anthony qualified 4th – a long time since that has happened for whatever reason/ The final was the same with Darren taking an easy win from -I think – John and Leonard again but that might not be right – have to check the results.
Anyway a good start to the weekend and now it is raining which is good

Which just goes to show – talent is talent is talent. There was never any doubt that with some track time DP would be fast in a touring car. Yet another competitive Queenslander at the Nats?

heavy- a much more charger will do the lipo (upto 3 cells) the orion charger with the carbon case will do 2 cell lipo.
was good to see dp getting up on the pace and a few others finding more and more speed aswell.

i was under the impression balancing is more of a maintenance task, should only need doing every 1000 cycles or so 😉
the orion charger would be your best bet, the muchmore is limited to 1A charge and will take forever to charge your pack (i am assuming its the premium power 4700mah pack?)

Oh ok – I wasn’t sure about that. I’ll try to get someone with the Orion to charge it for me – think Adrian might have one. Actually I think it’s charged already so should be good to go. Yes it is the Premium Power pack.

Well the rollup at Bayside today was sure down on the usual – guess all the electrics are out practicing or preparing for Brendale. On what turned out to be quite a hot fine day we only had 3 in stock 6 in mod and no 540 at all. There were 10 pullstarts and a few Open nitro as well.
I was very happy with the EC – turned 2 races at very fast 16 pace and 2 good 17’s. My fastest race was with a normal Nimh pack and my second fastest was with a test Lipo. The car is certainly a lot quicker than what I have been using lately.
I think I have decided on a ratio for the 13.5 brushless now as well which is good – I love that motor and will use it whenever I can. It has now done 6 race meets without any attention and that sure beats the work load to keep a brushed motor going at that level.
Anthony was fastest of teh mod guys racing and won easily from a fast improving Peter Scott and Shayne Pearce. Good to see Graeme Maidens back running his Mi2 in mod with a 19t and going quite well after a long layoff.
    cheers
