Stories from the world of RC car racing

Wow what a mouthfull – and it will be a big event, appropriately for a National Title. The action is at Brendale, November 16-19, 2006 (just a couple of weeks away!). Keep your eyes here for the latest news:
Entry form here
The latest entry listing here (8/11/2006)
Tyre/additive rules announcement here.

We’ll take the opportunity to make some predictions about winners and grinners a bit closer to the event. Let us encourage you to see the benefits of racing at such a major event – you don’t get these chances right on your doorstep too often and it’s a chance to grab with both hands.
If you absolutely can’t race for one reason or another then John Hansen out at Brendale would love to hear from you – he is doing a mountain of work out there and needs help, especially for the weekend of the Nationals. If you are a Nitro racer and want to help that would be especially welcomed – I saw a lot of electric racers helping out at the Nitro Worlds recently so why not return the favour. Give John a call 0400125099 he’d love to hear from you.

I would love to compete in the titles but I only have 2 crystal sets, do you think with Spectrum/Nomadio being so popular they will let me enter with just the 2 crystal sets?

It’s really a big event and the organisers will have enough to do not to want to worry about juggling frequencies around someone who only has 2 sets. We should be able to find a set for you to borrow though. What do you use 29mhz FM or what ?

    29mhz
Thanks Heavy that would be much appreciated.
I’ll also have to get some motors from you as well and that lathe would be great, but as you know, I’ll have to wait on the bank – wife so I’ll let you know.
    Thanks again

Well that doesn’t really answer my question but if it is 29mhz FM then no problem I have a set of crystals sitting here waiting to be used – let me know what two frequency you already have and then I’ll get it organised.

this is stupid i know but on the entry forms it makes no mention of 1/12th tyres. if you took it word for word it reads pretty much you use sorex 36’s on a 1/12th? i just think some where it should say “1/12th tyres open foam” or something sorry just really bored and noticed it.
looks great dunno if i can afford $108 entry but hey deffinately gonna watch atleast.
    cheers, Josh

Sorry Josh and over sight by the many people that proof read the entry form, but we would hope that if your entering a National event you would have read the rules govening the event and classes on the AARCMCC web site.
The rules clearly state what tyres you can use per class.
If you wish to enter 12th scale only the entry fee is $68.00 as you bring your own tyres.

With the entry list (8/11) starting to look close to being finalised, I think its time to start tipping. I’m going to name a top 10 in each class, and asterix 3 of them I think will finish on the podium. To save any false modesty the rules of this tipping comp are that you MUST tip yourself to be in the A final (if you are entered). Modified in particular is tough to pick – with some very high quality drivers left out of my top 10!

no doubt you’ve tried champ, you could try asking for white rears, i found the black were always sold out, but white were plentiful, same part number but a W on the end. otherwise pro shop futaba always seem to have a lot of yokomo stock

Hmm, any changes to tips with the latest entry list?
    Stock:
Add Jason Wakefield, Paul Tomic into the A final lineup? Paul a podium contender?
    Mod: No changes?
1/12th: Add Simon Nicholson into the A final lineup as a serious podium contendor or even likely winner?

I think Nicholson will be up there in mod – and as such, might not be able to put enough priority on 12th scale. Pretty hard to drive both competitively ont he same day! (although if anyone can do it, it will be him).
    In no particular order :
Simon Nicholson, Anthony Atack & Andrew Abbott in mod
Keith Mackrill, Aidan Kelly & Scott Parkinson in stock
Jake Zarb, Jay Dixon & Damian Barnier in 12th
There ya go, one each from QLD, NSW and VIC in each class 🙂
Dark Horses : Dave Simms in mod, James Mandy & Rhys Marshall in stock, Ash Thomas in 12th.
