Stories from the world of RC car racing

The world championships are underway!  A rain affected first day of qualifying is done (with just one heat still to run – presumably tommorrow?).  Top 10 is interesting:

  1. Takaaki Shimo – Kyosho
  2. Chris Tosolini – kyosho
  3. Hideo Kitazawa – Mugen
  4. Mike Swauger – Mugen??
  5. Simon Camilleri – Mugen (Sth Aus)
  6. Josh Cyrul – Kyosho
  7. Ken Furukawa – Kyosho
  8. Simon Nicholson – Kyosho (NSW)
  9. Jilles Groskamp – Serpent
  10. Francesco Tirono – Kyosho

Big day for Kyosho with 6 cars in the top 10. Serpent seem to be just slightly off the pace, and Mugen are close by. Australia’s Simon Camilleri and Simon Nicholson both well in the top 10. Awesome – go Simon! Tough day for Jason Dorn with a problem in his first heat, and his second round yet to be run (held over until tommorrow I think). Jason has speed but sits well down the order at the moment. Hang in there Jason!
I’ll be trackside Thursday arvo, Friday and Saturday (and maybe Wednesday arvo for a while), but in the meantime I’m following stories at a few websites:

If you have any other sites with news or photos, post them here.  Cheers!

I snuck out to Brendale this afternoon just in time to see Simon Camilleri bang in another 34 lap run to keep himself firmly in the frame – currently 6th. Qualifying Thursday includes two rounds, with the fastest heats up early in the morning, and then last in the afternoon. The track is getting faster and faster, and the last heats tommorrow afternoon should be nothing short of spectacular. Get there any way you can!

Well I spent the day out there Thursday (the only day I could get off work this week ) and can honestly say I had a fabulous day. The qualifying was electric and very intense – especially toward the end of the day when the last chance time came around for the fast guys.
Wow – wonder how I can get out of work Friday or Saturday – sickie ?
If you are in Brisbane and are even remotely interested in RC you owe yourself a day out – Ffriday would be good Saturday would be better.
