Most probably Sunny coast (Mod) for me this week. Will need all the practice I can get for the Interclub.

I’d like to do Sunny Coast but I’m on Grandson minding duties and he isn’t old enough to race yet so looks like Logan for me I think there is a lot of guys running 540 on Sat night

racing in Launceston this thursday night. I’m running the HPI Blitz in SC, and taking the kids along. Could be 6 y/old Mitch’s first ever race meeting, depending on how he feels after practice. He’s running a hbx rocket 4wd buggy.

My Grandson Mitch had his first race meet in Tassie last night – smiles all round.
I am currently trying to put together a offroad buggy set up for a 6year old grand nephew (not sure if that’s a technically correct term) but anyway there are a couple of young guns in the RC future.

That was a lot of fun – the push to get a few into 540 for the night worked better than expected – 2 full heats and some very fast cars eventuated. I think Brad P took the final win but it could have been any one of the 10 A finalists – great racing and more than a few giggles.
Actually the first half of the night was quite frustrating for me. I was using a bodyshell that should have been binned and everytime I brushed a barrier of had some lexan trading activities my body would jam down on teh wheels and I’d have to wait for a marshall to pop it back out. Finally borrowed a body form another Schuie driver (thanks Michael and Bob who also offered ) for the final qualifier, much better and the final – the car was great but the driver was inconsistant. Curses I beat Brad Hall in every qualifier but then he nailed me in the final – he’s a legend.
Stock was very fast tonight and looked like fun too – in a different kind of way.
Pretty good numbers in mod as well, all following Simon Nicholson around.

Sunny coast had a good turn out on Sunday to run the freshly smoothed and painted track. Solid field of Mod, and Pro tourer, with a few running 540, stock, and gas tourer. Simon was again the man to chase, but Flea was looking fast too.
My runs were plagued with failure , I don’t think I finished a run at all, unsoldered a battery wire, Shredded a rear belt and centre pulley , and lost a front wheel, the rain came over around lunch time so we packed up in anticipation, and left early. I believe the track did dry out and they started running the finals when we left.
On our way home we called in to Gympie for a look. The guys there are just starting to create a Club, which seems to be getting off to a good start. Basically they are running anything at the moment to get the numbers up. There was Touring cars, Short course trucks, Off Road buggies/trucks, Drifters and a couple of Gas cars/trucks. The track is just some ropes and markers on a netball court but is a nice layout.
We had a run with the Short course trucks, Shevo with the SC10 and my Blitz, both stupidly faster than the field of Stock losi strikes as we are Mamba powered. Good fun on the asphalt. ( Keep n eye out for the On Board video I shot coming soon) We also ran tourers, turned right down as well, and I threw on my Gas buggy for a run. it was quite a good way to end the day, lots of laughs and some more driving for us. They have the potential to be coming a great club but it is only early days for now.
cheers
