Stories from the world of RC car racing

With Launceston R/C Raceway firing up tonight, we took the opportunity to strap Heavy D behind the transmitter of our Team Associated SC10 short course truck.  On a slippery, dusty concrete surface the SC trucks are lively to say the least.  The big shed echoed with the sound of lexan trading that is typical of SC racing, but over all of it, the booming laughter of Heavy as he got to grips with the rear wheel drive machine.
Awesome!
With my usual SC ride on other duties tonight, I took the chance to run the new ready-to-run version of LRP’s EP powered 8th scale buggy.  Those things are awesome!  Heaps of power, plenty of grip and pretty decent handling on an old set of Proline Dirty Harry tyres.
All the news on tonight’s third Launceston R/C Raceway event is over at the club’s website.

Not so sure about the SC trucks – quite a handful but a lot of fun anyway.
I am sure about the venue – would love to have that shed in Brisbane wow quite large and will be a useful surface when it is all clean – about two thirds are clean now and quite a lot of traction, the other third still quite dusty and very slippery.
A very impressive mix of very new drivers, bashers having their frist taste of racing and then some experienced racers.
Quite a good mix of cars as well. The track is setup so that the jumps etc can be bypassed by the touring car during their race without shifting anything – quite clever really.
The 1/8th EP buggies/truggies were the highlight for me – awesome.
I’ll be looking again when I get home for a shed – especially one where you can leave the track down even though you are only using it every second Thursday – that’s a good deal.
