Stories from the world of RC car racing

People are asking me what I think and what my opinion is and what will I do.
For a start, I won’t be involved in any form of personal attack or abuse and neither will any form of that make it into print on this web site. Most of the members of the ORRCA committee are friends of mine before this and hopefully will still be after the dust has settled. That doesn’t however stop me from disagreeing, and I do – emphatically – with what they are doing. And my disagreement is not news to them – most of them know it well.
I’m sure they think that what they are doing is the right way forward – I don’t.
I agree they have the right under the constitution to make decisions but I also know that the constitution doesn’t prevent them going to the racers (through the clubs if that’s easier) seeking a consensus before making such major earth shaking changes.
The option to run our titles with one fastest (my preference – most forms of motor racing do qualifying on a fastest system not an average system) or round by round was always available for some years, now it’s gone and the round by round is compulsory, because a few liked that system better – is that a fair way, or did it deserve some debate at least. Maybe it was/is time for a debate that looks at the whole way we do qualifying and why we spend more time on it than on racing.
The ability to run our own game to our own rules has gone, the ability to run our own calendar has gone we are now controlled by one man in Sydney – is that fair or good for the future, I don’t think so.
For this year at least, sadly after many years of heavy involvement, I will play no part in the Titles, I will not support the Titles event as I have for the last few years in one capacity or another, as they head down this path that I believe is not in the best interests of Ep Onroad RC in Queensland.
Vale, ORRCA Qld Onroad Titles.
edit: The intent of this post was not to begin a discussion, but to present David’s views on this issue for thsoe who have been asking.  Comments section has therefore been turned off.  Thank you. sg.
