Stories from the world of RC car racing

It was another day of hot action at Bayside today.
A very hot field in stock meant that the qualifying was very hotly contested. Keith (TC5) was up to the task and the only one with a 21 lapper – followed into second by Bob (Schuie) closely persued by Brad (08). Then it was Andrew, Heavy, Tony, Kirk and Gary who made up the 8 car A final, that’s 4 Schumacher in the 8 car field. 🙂 🙂 🙂
The final had a slightly messy start but from the melee Keith emerged with Tony hot on his heels – I was trying to drive my own race so can’t say exactly but at some stage Keith had a small incident which allowed Tony past – Tony and his Mi3.5 then went on to make no mistakes to the end for his maiden A final victory at this level – great work Tony. Keith came in second and Andrew third.
The 540 was similar with Chris Sturdy (Schuie) the only one in the class to go 18laps in qualifying. He went on to win the final from David Patrick (TC5) and Khala Scott (Schuie ) 🙂 🙂 🙂
ANOTHER GREAT DAY FOR SCHUMACHER DRIVERS ALL ROUND
MINI
The other electric class today was Mini – we had 8 or 9 I think. Qualifying wasn’t as clear cut as the other classes with three drivers with 3 drivers on the lead lap. Bob from Toshi and Scott – then Heavy, Darren, Jason – welcome back Jason (an old Fairfield racer- also a Schuie driver) Brad and Khala.
Bob ran away with the final and new Mini convert Darren came from nowhere to 2nd from Scott Harris in 3rd. Looks like a developing class at Bayside, Neil Stonley has one and a few others searching the Internet tonight for a good deal. Be careful about buying too much stuff at the moment – the National rules for Mini are about to be released in a day or two and it would be good to make sure you conform to the rules we are going to run by – by all means get your car but hang off on a speedie and motor and hop ups to make sure you get the right stuff. If you want to risk it it’s a fair bet that the Hobby Wing 25 or 35 amp speedie and the 3000 motor will be the approved set up and I assume that the Sport tuned will still be approved for those who want old tech. Only batteries that can fit in the chassis with no chassis mods will be legal.
NITRO
The highlight today was the races between Jason, Michael and Johnny – a treat to watch – well done guys.
Roll on 2 weeks time.
➡ By the way talkng to Doug today about the entry form for the Presidents Shield on 25th January. There are a couple of corrections to the form – firstly for Gas Tourer yes the TG engine is ok to use and secondly on tyres. The clause says open tyres but that means within teh class rules so Gas can use any tyre and electric can use any rubber tyre.
