Stories from the world of RC car racing

The 2008 Nitro Tourer worlds are underway in Portugal.  Victorian duo Peter Jovanovic and Jessie Davis are representing Australia and PJ in particular is on fire – fast throughout practice and setting two top-3 times in the first rounds of qualifying.

Keep an eye on  Red RC – Events for round-by-round live reporting.  We’ll try and bring occasional updates from our live-on-the-spot ace reporter as well.  Live streaming results can be found here. Official Worlds Website here

Our information is that PJ is well and truly switched on and focussed.  it’s one thing to finish top 3 at the last worlds at Brendale (a truly awesome performance), but another entirely to go to the other side of the world and back it up. Needless to say, PJ is turning heads.
Good luck to the Aussie boys! (feels a bit like an olympic event somehow!)

Two more rounds of qualifying completed for the fast guys tonight, and PJ has dropped to 6th thanks to one DNS and one DNF. Tough day, but not a bad outcome to only drop a few spots.
Jessie Davis had a good fourth run to move up to 21st – meaning he is right in the fight to qualify directly into the semi finals.
Two more rounds of qualifying tommorrow – when the battle for TQ will most likely be settled.

At the end of qualifying, Peter Jovanovic has qualified 13th (directly into Semi final stage) and Jessie Davis 22nd (into quarter finals). Both guys have driven well, but have fought some reliability issues. Both stand a good chance of progressing – but the competition is fierce
PJ will face up to such luminaries as Adrian Bertin, Ralph Burch and Dario Balestri, while Jessie lines up alongside Teemu Leino and Hideo Kitazawa.

Congratulations to Peter & Jessie who finished in the quarter and semi-final respectively. Both had unfortunate trouble in the finals with Peter in particular unlucky to have electrical problems while well placed.
Kyosho’s Daniel Ielasi is the new world champion from Chris Tosolini and Martin Hudy.
