Stories from the world of RC car racing

ActionRC congratulates John Hansen on his win in the first ever AARCMCC Pull Start Queensland Titles event. Well done John.

John sat in 2nd till about lap 40 then took the lead from Bayside Steve Dennis and then only relinquished the lead back to Steve for about 3 laps before claiming it again and holding on to the finish. A glorious victory for John and the Novarossi powered  Hoabao GPX4.

The Pro Tourer event was won by Victorian Peter Jovanovic with Queenslander, Jason Dorn coming in 3rd behind Peter and Phillip Woodbury.

The 1/8th scale final is still in progress as I write.

Thanks Heavy and Chow, it was an up and down long weekend, Friday for some reason the side belt decided to fall off, I think 4 times.
Fitted new pulleys and modded the tensioner seemed to cure it.
Saturday turned into trying to get more turn in and on power steering, nothing seemed to help much.
Was very frustrating since 2 weeks ago the car felt great at the club meeting.
On Saturday night I talked to a few other drivers about the track conditions and the plan was more droop all round and some toe out on front, I decided to add some 38’s on the front as well.
We got a 10 minute run late Sunday morning to test the track conditions, the car was heaps better
    much easier to drive.
The final, decided to go with the 2 pit stops for the 20 minutes, at about 6 minutes the engine started to surge and what felt like running out of fuel, wow got back to the pits, refuel and off but it didn’t run much better at some stage after that (I don’t remember when) I came back in and got Paul to richen the top end.
It didn’t seem much better on the first lap, by the end of the second lap the engine came good and ran prefect to the end of the race.
Maybe a bit lean and it got hot, my thanks to Paul Dutton great pit man and to Steve for a great race.
It was worth paying the $70.00 entry fee just to watch the 8th scale final, what a race between the winner Michael Kerr and 2nd place Jeff Hamon after 30 minutes of near perfect racing there was about 6 seconds between them at the end with Jeff needing to make an extra pit stop.
The lead changed every time one of them pitted.

Thanks for the report John and especially teh details on who won the 1/8th etc. I meant to get back to that later but for some reason I’ve been penalised with only 24 hours in each day lately.
lets hope there will be a few more in pull start for the Australian Titles later in the year.
