Stories from the world of RC car racing

Another absolutely fantastic day of Interclub racing. I don’t think there is any doubt that the Interclub Committee have got the formula near perfect for this fantastic event. Logan and Sunny Coast have really embraced the concept and reaped the rewards – members of the other clubs have been less enthusiastic in their attendance, but whatever, the events this year have all been fantastic. Congratulations to Martin and Mal and the team at Logan for putting on a great day.
Interclub 3 Day 2.
Mod saw a lot of new faces as clubs tried to seed the classes to gain maximum points. At the end of the qualifying it was Tim, Drew and John, perhaps the more experienced of mod drivers who qualified best. But the finals were all Tim with three wins from John with 3 seconds and Brandon Dewitt bobbing into third – some great racing – some great crashes. All but Tim were running LIPO or 6 cell. That doesn’t bode well for many of these guys fronting for mod at the Qld titles which will be 5 cell only.
Pro Tourer Who said Mick Sherman had been away from racing for too long. He had no problems coming to terms with Pro Tourer and ran out winner of the 20 minute final from Martin by 2 laps. Third was John Wuersching – just – there were 3 other drivers on the same lap after the 20 minutes – that’s close. Anyway must have been good as there were smiles all round.
STOCK The biggest class and arguably the hardest fought was the stock – it had everything today as has been the case recently, people blowing up motors (me), people searching for ratios, people swapping tyre compounds, people lexan trading, people driving fast and people driving slow. Great races, great fun. The usual suspects were there in the A when the qualifying was over
1. Clinton – Schumacher Mi3
2. Keith – Associated TC5
3. Bob – Schumacher Mi3
4. Aaron – Magic E4
5. Brad – Xray 08
6. Matthew – Schumacher Mi3
7. Stephen – Tamiya
8. Heavy – Serpent S400
9. Kirk – Xray
10. Kenny Corally PHI
Now there’s a mixture of the top chassis’ available these days – dominated by Schumacher of course – thanks team.
And that was just qualifying.
In the 3 part finals Clinton proved too quick and won 2, with Keith in second winning 1 to add to a second. Aaron finished a strong debut of his new E4 with a fine 3rd.
I’ve put the final club points up on the web page for the club points and will get the drivers pages completed in the next few days.
So as we race headlong toward the Qld Titles as the next major electric event it’s anyones guess who is going to star in stock – I’d have my money on a Schumacher (bias admitted).
➡ World Titles event resumes at Bayside next Sunday as usual. 😛 😛
