Stories from the world of RC car racing

OR should that be
Mi3 You’re the CAR
Or maybe
SHEV and Mi3 unbeatable
or maybe
6 Mi3 make the A main
or maybe
Keith Mackrill beaten at last
I think I picked the right headline but any one could tell you that we had quite a day at Interclub 2 at the Sunny Coast today. The stock class was always going to be an interesting race. Not just the size and quality of the field but for the first time the 17.5 ROAR Stock brushless motors would be allowed alongside regular stock motors and the 13.5 bonded rotor motor we have used in the class for the last 18 months.
If that wasn’t enough several drivers have switched cars since Interclub 1 with Keith forsakeing the Losi for a TC5 and Shev and Chow making the switch to Schumacher.
Motor swapping, chasing ratios, chasing tyres, wind, dust, temperature changes – the class had it all today. As the dust settled Keith managed to hold onto TQ and there were an unbelievable 6 Mi3 in the 10 car A final. That’s unbelievable – ActionRC Team Schumacher boss Heavy D came out of his illness induced coma to celebrate with the biggest smile – did he say once, or twice, or possibly a few more time “6 Schumacher in the A final” great stuff team I am so proud of you guys.
Shev won the finals from Keith with our very own original team member from years now, Bob the Barger in a fine 3rd. By the way if you are wondering about the quality of the field – have a look at the podium – there are 3 past Qld Title holders right there.
I don’t have the full results but I think it’s Matt 5th, Chow 6th, Heavy 7th, Tony 8th – something like that.
Oh yes did I mention there were 6 Schumacher in the A final, 2 Associated, 1 X-ray, and 1 Corally. Congrats to Sam and Tristian they did well to make the A final at this level – not team members but we recognize their performance anyway. Tristian might have been the only brushed driver in the field – or maybe Nick as well.
Oh did I mention we had a great race day today in stock. I think there was Mod racing and a Gas class as well – those results will probably feature on rctech sometime, or Mod here if Anthony get busy.
Not only is the team strong on driver line up at the moment but the bonus is that they are all a great bunch of blokes to hang out with – thanks for a very enjoyable weekend guys – just a shame Scott was missing – we missed you Scotty.
I couldn’t possibly finish without mentioning how good it was to see Tom Crawley having a race today – go hard Tom, look forward to racing you some more – when you are ready for the A final I have the answer for you – involves a few dollars but well worth it.
Did I say there were 6 Mi3 in the A final ?

I think all the above headlines would be a worthy description of the event. Truly brilliant racing in stock today with all the trademarks of a classic race. First off Shev wins, then has a dns, then gets cleaned up at the start to near last and has a drive worthy of his State Champ title to pip Bob Vardy on the the by 3/100ths of a sec for 2nd place to wrap up the event. Kudos to Keith for some very sportsmanlike driving in the last heat that was the most exciting racing all weekend. Pity that the 4 top drivers in Stock all drove well enough to win the event but here was only 1 first place trophy. I have a video of the last race and and will try to post in on You tube in the next couple of days.
I think a brushelss for stock will be on my shopping list soon and also an MI3 could soon be racing in Mod.
Great weekend and great people and great effort to make the A main considering your health. Cant wait for the next round.

Sounds like a fun weekend for all. I was certainly edgy all weekend as i missed my first major seq race.
Congrats to Tim Weier for the win on saturday, drew for pushing anthony, and particularly to shevo and the boys in stock today. Great stuff!

Congrats to all the Schuie drivers on the weekend. It was a truly enjoyable weekend. The racing on Sunday in Stock and Mod was great. Goes to show there is still something left in the more mature drivers hey heavy & Bob!!

How many Schuies were there in the A final again ?? 6 was it … Thats great, and a amixture of 17.5 BL motors too with guys switching all day to expirement with the new motors and trying different ratios. The Schuies were all on fire around the track, and every one looked great, Well done to Shevo for the overall win, and maybe if Bob had of had his transponder mounted on the front it would have been a different story, yes it was that close. Big ups to Matty taking the win in A3, for team F.A.D. the way to take a win in the finals it seemed was to sit out the final before hand, Shav finished A1 early and went on to win A2, Matty went out of A2 early and went on to win A3. Thanks Heavy for the awesome battling in A3.
And I believe that the Logan winning Streak has ended….

If you want to keep a copy of videos posted on YouTube, there is a great free site at http://www.keepvid.com that lets you rip youtube vids. usually you can choose high or low quality, and the outcome is reasonable. i ripped the mod a1 from youtube last night in high quality (.mp4) and watched it using Quicktime – it was about a 30mb file, and quality was good. worth a look, free and easy to use.
(low quality vids rip in .flv format – you might need to download a player that can handle .flv).
