The annual “Presidents Shield” event was run over this weekend and was a boomer. Not necessarily the biggest numbers but certainly up there for fun quotent and the new track surface, being tried by many for the first time was certainly appreciated. There was more than 1 fan claiming they would be back for more.
Even though many of us were still in holiday mode the hard workers of the club had done their thing and got the place looking fantastic.
I hear there was some good close racing on the Saturday, although apparently the hot day made life difficult for some of the stock guys trying to go for a longer race than the usual 5 minutes in the heat of the day. Big win in 540 to Gary Sturdy (driving the ex Scott Guyatt Mi3 for the first time ) closely followed home by the ever smiling Ben Budianto – good work guys. In Stock it was all Shev followed by Tim Weier, followed by a few smoke emiters.
Sunday was essentially Gas day but with Mod electric thrown in as well. There were plenty of gas cars out in both classes and the driving looked to be pretty good. I think Anthony Attack won the mod and Jason Dorn definitely won the Open Gas. Not 100 percent positive who won the Gas Tourer – have to wait for the results – I know Tony Nettleton came second.
Well done Bayside – a great weekend. only 3 more racedays till the Bayside Cup (first round of the Interclub ) see you all there on 27th January to start practicing for that one.
