Stories from the world of RC car racing

The powerful Logan club have dominated this year’s south-east Queensland Interclub Championships with four straight round victories. Logan finish on top again at the Gold Coast over the past few weeks to clean sweep the series and finish on a maximum of 40 points. The club’s dominant win was built on the back of strong performances across all the classes – with Logan outscoring all its rivals in every class except Pro Tourer.
Check the full points spreadsheet, or read on for more details…
Behind Logan it was the Sunshine Coast who finished on 31 points after rounding out the series with a third place finish at the furthest venue from home for the Landsborough-based crew. Sunshine Coast again put in strong performances across the board throughout 2007 – and will challenge hard for the Interclub Series Championship in 2008.
Third in the series in a tight battle was the Queensland Radio Controlled Car Racing Association (Brendale – I hope I got the acronym right!) who snuck home ahead of Bayside. Both clubs had high points, but are missing competitors in key classes – notably EP Modified for Bayside, and GP Gas Tourer & 540 for Brendale. If they can bring full teams to the ’08 series, things should be tighter.
The wooden spoon race was won by the Chargers who finished dead last having been soundly thrashed by the Gold Coast club on home turf. It could be that the Gold Coast club have been at last woken up to the Interclub series with lots of talk about higher participation next year after hosting the final round in 2007. One last though…..Chargers could be the club to watch in ’08!
