Stories from the world of RC car racing

Today at their Landsborough circuit, the Sunshine Coast club began a 6 week course aimed at teaching special needs students from the local school all about R/C Car racing.  Kathy Seib reports….

Firstly thanks to all our helpers who turned up today to help with this project.  We had a great afternoon with all the children appearing to thoroughly enjoy themselves (including our own club members).  We split the kids into 3 groups and made three circles of rope on the track.  We trained the children to control the cars with most of them doing very well. They were also shown how to turn the car and controller on and off and how to change a battery.

After an hour of practicing it was time to finish up, we gave the brothers and sisters that were also there a go with the cars and then our own three club kids gave a short demonstration of how to drive on a full track.

Once again thank you to all who have made this course possible.

Lots of people have contributed time and talent to get this inspiring project off the ground.  We join with the SCRCCC club in acknowledging the support of the following:

  • Model Engines (R/C importer)
  • Trackside R/C
  • Mr Toys Lawnton
  • Mr Toys Kawana
  • Lions Club Beerwah
  • Brian and Leanne Stallworthy
  • Cr Anna Grosskreutz
  • Cr Tim Dwyer
  • Cr Dick Newman
  • Cr Dell Winkler

We will continue to bring updates from the course over the next 6 weeks. Also check out http://www.scrccc.com for more news an d information.  Well done to all the team at SCRCCC!
