Stories from the world of RC car racing

You can read about Brendale in the previous post – you can also read there about all the events on offer this weekend.
My second event for the weekend was a day long affair at Ipswich. Hot man it was hot we ran out of gas for the bar-b-q but it didn’t matter the sausages cooked anyway from the solar power.
A very frustrating day for me – I was running an old Associated B3 and just didn’t have the right tyres, nor could I get the right set up on the car and also couldn’t get the transmitter set up right as well – all of which ended up in an evil handling buggy with which I qualified last – 10th out of 10 – my worst performance since 1985. Fortunately some others went worse than me in the Finals (hard to believe ) and I ended up 7th just to redeem a little pride.
A good day, well run and enjoyable apart from the aforementioned dismal performance on the track. A kind person called Dave (aren’t those Daves the best people ) let me pit under his shade tent so that was great – did I mention how friendly they are out at Ipswich.
I’m looking forward to getting on teh track with some vintage 4wd buggies once the SEQ championships is over. (Hoshot, Bosscat or Optima Mid ).

See you out there. (By the way 2 events is my limit for this weekend – if anyone beats 2 out of the possible 3 let me know and you’ll get the points.

Make that 3 events – I managed an hour at bayside today as well. Looked like a good feel to the meet. 6 or 7 electrics which is still an improvement on what they have been getting. Good to see Barry Hoffman back as well after a long lay off – might see him at Ipswich offroad as well as he has a B4 too.
Vasso was there again getting some more track time in stock – good to see.

Ended up 2nd on the day……….only because the rest of the field crashed out. Poor Russell travelled all the way from Tamworth only to have the rotor snap in the final after he TQ’d.
Bring on Meakin next Saturday night and then the Interclub up the sunny coast the following week.
The car was running sweet by the finals to. I ran some stiffer shocks in the front and Paul sorted out the droop (on the car)
