Probably about time the EP offroad side of our hobby dragged themselves into the 21st Century and allowed the Novak 13.5 brushless (bonded rotor) into the stock class. It’s been proven now over nearly two years that it’s not as fast as a good stock brushed motor.
There are a lot of people using this motor now and not allowing it to run at anything above a club meet is costing the sport entries – time to embrace the future boys.
Same for ORRCA Qld – 2 archaic rules need changing – that mentioned above and the 8 car grid.

Firstly, I’m all for the BL motors, they’re the best thing I’ve ever bought for rc. I’ll put the 13.5 BL vote up to the Chargers members. Unfortunately or fortunately we’d have to allow sintered rotors also, as they are becoming the standard rotor with motor to purchase.
We discussed allowing 13.5 BL motors at the ORRCA AGM, but any rules made now for 2008 would be superceded as quickly as manufacturers produce newer BL systems/motors.
SE Qld titles are not an ORRCA official event or a Qld titles, and as Chargers members are only likely to attend, I shouldn’t see anyone objecting to allowing 13.5 BL in the stock class.
Not sure what you mean about the 8 car grid? Most entry forms may state 8 car grids, but ORRCA rule 6.6.1 states “Finals will consist of between 5 and 10 drivers”
    See you Sunday, maybe.

Gee ORRCA must have changed that when I wasn’t looking – used to be 8 car finals. Now the Race Director can decide to only have 5 car finals if he wants. Why don’t ORRCA just change it to 10 car finals like everyone else.
The 13.5 is still available with bonded rotor (13.5 EX) or bonded rotors are readily available seperately and is what we should be using. The sintered rotor is way quicker and will be a cause for protest by the brushed people and rightly so – just my opinion.
If ORRCA can’t make a decision based on not knowing what manufacturers might make in the future then they will never be able to make a decision at all.
Won’t be able to make it Sunday – Scott is taking me to see the V8’s in Action at Qld Raceway. The good news is that I am in final and promising negotiations with my boss to get both Saturdays off work 11th and 25th for the SEQ Titles.
